Special Birthday

Good Tuesday Morning to all who visit my blog world.

This is another card I call my Magnus Magnusson cards, " I've started so I'll finish ". I'm not really happy with this one, don't know why. but we were so busy over the weekend I didn't have time to do another one.

Next month is Sue Wilson Dies, YAAY!!!. I must admit that this card looks better in real life than in the photo. So here goes.

Before I show the card can I say a big Thank you for your fantastic comments about my tutorial XX

Products used :-

Creative Expressions- Vintage gold card
Creative Expression- White pearls
Creative Expressions- Iced Snow
Phil Matins- Decadent Damask Birthday Verses
Sue Wilson- Finishing Touches- Classic Rose
Sue Wilson- Corner, Border & tag Dies
Sue Wilson- Configurations- Petite arched Adornment
Spellbinders- Exquisite Labels Eleven

I have made my usual matt and layer with black & vintage gold layers, and a smaller layer with /White black & vintage gold card. The last layer of gold card I embossed with . Sue Wilson's new wild rose embossing folder. I then use an old Spellbinder die for the focal point and stamped the sentiment on it. I then backed it with double sided sticky sheet and added glitter to the cut out design pieces, then took the back of the sticky sheet off and stuck it to vintage gold card. I cut out the adornment die also in gold and added that to the top I cut two of the border dies and glued them to the edges of the card and pulled them forward for dimension and added some pearls. I cut two different sized roses and leaves and added some glitter to the petals and added to the bottom of the card. Finally I added two butterflies from my stash.

Hope you like this one

Big Hugs

  3. Hi Tina,
I think we as crafters are always critical of our own work but honestly Tina you have no reason not to pleased with today's stunning card.... it's exquisite! Anyone would be absolutely thrilled to receive it....I know I would. I spent the day making flowers yesterday as they take so much time up when you think you've almost finished a card and then realise you need to add flowers to decorate it....having seen your card I had forgotten I had Sue's die that you used for yours so I may do a few of them today. Oh I love that border die too, it always reminds me of a beautiful piece of lace. Enjoy the rest of your day Tina, take care.

    1. Hi Sheila

Thank you so much for your lovely comment. you're right we do criticize our works of arts, because we do put a lot of effort into them and we hope to get good feedback, and I have to say your comment have made me smile big time, Thank you. Isn't it lovely to have a day of just making flowers, it's one of the best parts of making cards. ( and butterflies ).

I hope you are OK and feeling a little stronger everyday. I think about you often. Look after yourself. Talk soon.

Love and big hugs back to you too X

    1. Hi Maureen

Thank you so much for your lovely comment. As from June I have been put on the die cutting team at CE DT, so I am really looking forward to doing cards and using some of Sue older dies too as I think they tend to get forgotten, and we have all spent so much money on them they need to be revisited. I hope I can do them justice.

  5. Hi Tina,
Your card is lovely! I will however say this - if you were to offer me a more typical Tina card or today's card I would choose one your "specials". I think you have done wonders with presumably what you must incorporate! I think it must be extremely difficult but you do a great job! I hope this doesn't sound mean or bad because it is not meant to. Oh I'm going Tina before I dig an even bigger hole!
I made my first exploding box today! It worked much to my amazement! There is nothing in it yet but Roma wasn't built in a day!

I love your honesty, and I don't think for one moment you are being mean or bad. Sometimes we have got items delivered that I have thought OMG what the....... am I going to do with these stamps, and to this day I can't believe I made some cards, and people liked them.

I have never made an exploding card and wouldn't know where to start, but they look beautiful. I would love to see one that you have made.

Myra, please don't think you have dug a hole as you haven't said anything negative, and you speak in any language you like if I get a lovely blog like this from you.

Lots of love back to you

    1. Hi Karenlotty

      Thank you.

I can honestly say, hand on heart I know nothing about Sue's Christmas release dies.

I'm sorry I didn't explain myself. The CE DT have been split into two sets. One doing stamping and other mediums and the other using dies, and I have luckily been put onto the die cutting team. We don't find out any info long before, if any,
before things are released. So all I meant to say is that I was sent 2 Sue Wilson dies and a stamp to make cards with next month. Sorry Karenlotty!

  8. Hi Tina

I think you made a beautiful card. None of us like going out of our comfort zones creatively so I get why you are critical of it. We all do it, we all compare ourselves with others so I think it helps if you can get opinions from others. Then we know where out of our comfort zones we are good to go if we need to (hope that made sense!).

Happy for you that you got into the 'dies' group.

Re Sues Christmas dies. Last year many shops sold out of them, so the store owners are 're-releasing' them to their customers by heavily restocking- by saying they are 're releasing' it's simply building up a bit of hype by suggesting to customers they'll have to act quick if they want to guarantee getting the ones they want . Maybe that's what people are hearing.

    Hugs,

    T x

    1. Thank you T, and it makes complete sense. It's my own fault. Last month we were offered some items and I put in verses instead of Sentiments, so have really tried hard to come up with some ideas, as I think verses belong inside the card not on the front, that could just be me. So, my own fault this time. What A Plonker!!., but still enjoyed doing my flowers when ever I could.

I know when I spoke to Sue about my felt flower, she said she would love to stop what she was doing and make some more flowers out of this die but was so busy doing Christmas cards.. You only have to think about the last shows that Sue did, promoting older dies, and to think they must still have some of last Christmas stock to get rid of before the new stock comes out. Luckily I bought all I wanted from the Christmas dies last year, but I haven't got a clue what is store for us this year. It's a surprise for us too on the DT group too. That's probably the news that is goin, around about older dies.

    Hi Tina,
This happens to me, too. I make a card and then I think "could have done this differently", "it's nice but I don't really love it" - we are just simply too critical of the little masterpieces (and ALL OF THEM ORIGINALS, think of that!) we create. This card of yours is really lovely, anyone would be honoured to receive it.
Your flowers are always so gorgeous - I don't get them like that, suppose I'll just have to practise some more..........

    1. Hi Nightowl

Thank you Rose, I think we all have day's when we have a teachers head on and say she could have done better, But something I'm not happy with someone else will love, it's a bit like the lady on Sue's blog that say's better without a bow, thank goodness we are all different. Thank you for your email too.
