PEACE

Good Tuesday morning everyone

Thank you all for taking time out to visit my blog, It's lovely to see you back again or if you are visiting for the 1st time. Welcome.

I have been waiting 9/10 weeks to hopefully share some good news with you all. I had a health scare ( lady problems ). Scared, I went to the doctors and expected her to say this is normal, but she didn't. I went for a CT scan which she put as urgent and nearly 3 &1/2 weeks later I got an appointment, then waited 2 weeks for results only to be told I had to go and have a biopsy under local anesthetics. I had a very large polyp removed and a biopsy, but no local anesthetic was offered. That was a bit painful. I waited another 2 weeks for results only to be told I needed further investigation. I was in pieces and thinking the worse, but 5 days later I went in for a womb biopsy under general anesthetics. Another 1st for me, so I do consider myself lucky to have got to my age and not had a General anesthetic, I waited another 2 weeks for results, Anyway, I am so happy to say that I do not have the dreaded C. I have to go and have some sort of intervention but nothing to worry about. This episode had put my life on hold for such a long time and I know if I hadn't had my DT cards to do I would have gone mad. Lucinda at CE asked if I wanted to take time off, but I said the cards for CE are keeping me sane. So now I can move forward and start living again, as my life was totally on hold, the only thing I did for all those weeks was my DT cards as I couldn't concentrate on anything else. Paul has been amazing and reassuring me all the way through, I think he is a little greyer though, but Claire and Craig had no idea, but we have all been celebrating ever since. They have stopped but I'm still going.!!! YAY.

Sorry, now about the card. I'm sorry if you are getting bored with white, glitter and poinsettias, but I made a plan over the last few weeks to use these items so maybe next week I'll try something different, but don't hold your breath as I love doing more is more cards.

Here we go then!!

 Products used:-

Foundation Card- Black/ Coconut White
Sue Wilson- Festive Collection - Dove of peace
Sue Wilson-       "              "         - Snowflake Background
Sue Wilson-       "              "         - Snowflakes
Sue Wilson-       "              "         - Classic Poinsettia- Open Petals
Sue Wilson-       "              "         - Classic Poinsettia
Sue Wilson-       "              "         - Holly Sprays
Creative Expressions- Glacier Ice
Sue Wilson- Snowflake Lattice- Embossing Folder
Creative Expressions- Snow Fibre Paper- for making poinsettias

How to make:-

I have made my usual matt & layering on both sizes and embossing the coconut white card.I covered all the the flakes with crystals. I then cut 2 of the background die and used a sticky sheet to adhere it to coconut card and then covered it with Glasier ice.

I then cut several of Sue's snowflake and poinsettia dies of various sizes and layered them as I thought looked good, but you might like a different take on it, it's totally up to you, you make it as personal as you like. The 2nd layer of the background die I attached using sticky pads to the sparkly background for dimension and arranged the poinsettias and snow flakes on top. Finally I cut 2 holly sprays and cut them to make leaves for the poinsettias.

I hope you like this one too.

Have a good, happy & healthy week

Big Hugs Always

  1. Hello there Tina,
My, have you had a worrying time! It's so hard when these things happen as we feel so helpless and as you say it just takes over your life for a while. I'm so glad you got good news and you and the family can relax and be thankful too I guess! We take so much for granted sometimes - well I know I do - then something pulls me up!
Well I have gone on a bit , sorry about that but I feel I know you although of course I don't really! I'm so pleased everything is ok!
Your card as usual is beautiful and you have inspired me to make white poinsettias . Yours are always stunning!
Lots of love from another night owl!

Thank you Myra. No you haven't gone on, and yes, we can as a family breath again . We just think we are infallible as mum's and dad's and think we will be around forever. It was just a slap to say, don't take things for granted. I can tell you I have never been so scared, night time was the worse, mind working overtime. Anyway enough!! You can talk as long as you like on my blog Myra and thank you for this heartfelt comment, and so pleased you like the white poinsettias. Thank you

My word Melody, I'm so sorry to read your news. I'm just so pleased they can keep it under control for you even though the treatment must be awful at the time. It's a fear I think we all live with and June, the lady after your message hit's the nail on the head when she said. When will they find a cure for it.

Bless you Melody, look after yourself. See you again soon, and thank you for taking time still to leave me a lovely comment too.

  3. Morning Tina, I am so pleased for you with the outcome of your health scare, I know what it is like as I too had one following a mammogram about 4 weeks ago, had to have biopsy but got the all clear, it is awful as you don't know for so long and everything as you say is put on hold, (my twin sister is in the same boat now and awaiting to see if she has C - when will they find a cure for it). Anyway I digress - todays card is beautiful, I now understand about the snow fibre paper, I have some of this, which I purchased from Julia Watts site, but I wasn't sure what to do with it - you have now answered this and given me ideas. I am loving todays card as I have already said, Sue's new festive dies are amazing.

Enjoy your day and see you again next week, stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

    1. Hi Jane

Thank you Jane, you know I had lots of sleepless nights and nail biting days. It certainly puts life into perspective.

Every week I cut lots of things out and then think what on earth am I going to do with them. I also like white cards and I think this is my favourite one so far. Mind unless I scroll back to see what I've made so far For Christmas I can't remember as the others are already boxed and stacked in a bigger box.

I hope you get some more rain soon, not too much, just enough to cool it down for you.

  5. Hi Tina

You've had a really rotten time just lately, you poor thing. Must've been absolutely horrible sitting around waiting for test results etc, I can't imagine how scared you must've been. Thankfully you are ok and I'm so pleased it turned out well for you. Your family and your crafts must've been a comfort and it certainly didn't affect the quality of your work at all, your cards have remained stunning throughout and this is another winter beauty. I'm loving the white on white on white, the textures, shapes and embellishments all work so wrll together. Pinning for when I'm stuck on my Christmas cards!

    1. Hi T

It's bad enough having the biopsy's, but you're right it's the waiting that is the worse but so pleased, (that's an understatement) I got a good result. Paul was very supportive, and the family when we eventually let them in on it, and the crafting kept me grounded with a set day to publish my card. I have come close to the wire on several occasions and have been very late getting the card posted to Lucinda at CE but luckily she was very understanding. thank you T for your lovely comment too and another Pin to boot.

  6. Hi Tina,
So sorry to hear what a rotten time you've had over the last few months, such a worry for you and your husband. We all have situations in our lives which become unbearable, these things come to try us but don't you think they make us stronger, I think the saying is "older and wiser" but we'll forget that one, so long as we come out the other end with a smile on our face (I can almost see yours from here :)). I'm very pleased for you that you can now sit back, relax and continue to enjoy life.
Oooh how much more lovelier can you make the poinsettias look - so so pretty. I seem to say this a lot to you :) but I love this card its so delicate and sparkly.
Have a lovely rest of the week, keep up the good work.

  7. Hi Tina
I think it is the feeling that you have no control over your life... you are constantly waiting for the next appointment, the next set of results. Thankfully you are well and clearly will be monitored much more closely (this is not a bad thing) so we can continue to enjoy your beautiful cards.

No, I am not sick of white as I do love white cards. They seem very elegant somehow. The poinsettias just scream Christmas but you can keep your snowflakes, way too cold for this Aussie.

Tina, when you make your cards, are they opening cards or just layers on a base? If they are just on a base, I assume you write the greeting etc on the back but what does the recipient do to display the card? I think part of making a beautiful card for a special someone is the knowledge that it will be displayed, albeit for a short while, as a piece of art.

Thanks again for all the inspiration, your cards are just beautiful.

    1. Hi Jan

Lovely to see you again. You are so right about the waiting and the shock that you have to have further investigation and waiting for the next appointment. I don't know what else to say other than being so relieved, and yes the surgeon said they always do a follow up 1yr later.

Thank you for your comment, and I agree about the snowflakes. Our Summer this year has been very wet windy and grey, and to have snow I think would be icing on top of the Christmas cake!!

All my cards are folded cards with an insert for the message, and boxed just in case they want to keep it.

Looks like we are both suffering with the shivers.
