Good Tuesday morning to everyone.
Hope the weather is being kinder to you in Cumbria and Scotland, after your snow at the weekend.I'm sorry to rub it in ,but we managed to prepare all our beds for our veg in relative sunshine, a bit breezy but dry. We have only dabbled growing veg in the past but Paul wants to have a go at a bit more this year. We are doing Maris Piper pots, swede, Parsnips, onions, Runner beans, Tomatoes, lettuce and Strawberries. I'm keeping everything crossed it works or I am going to have one miserable hubby.
On the badger news, I thought he/she had decided not to visit anymore, but early hours Sunday morning I went to turn the lights off in the kitchen and there it was as bold as brass sat on the patio table in the back garden eating all the peanuts, So cute!!
I am making my daughter 1st wedding anniversary card. I can't believe how fast that year has passed, I will post that card later in the week.
This weeks card I have done the Sue Wilson Paper grouting technique again. I really like doing this, got messy again but it's good fun.
hope you like this one.

Firstly I made 2 layers of matt and layering using Black & white foundations card and CE Vintage Silver card. With Both the layers of white card using Sue Wilson's bed of roses EF and using Texture paste did the grouting technique, and set aside to dry overnight. The roses were made with Spellbinders rose creation magabilities dies and coloured with Tim Holtz D Ink, I made a frame with 3 spellbinder dies, I embossed all 3 first, then took away the middle die carefully and then cut them through the machine. I stamped my sentiment with Perfect medium and used silver embossing powder and heat embossed. I added the Ornamental corner, but had to snip away pieces to see the sentiment. Tied a Grosgrain ribbon and added leaves of green and white to the roses. Butterflies were made with foundations white card and coloured with Tim Holtz distress ink. I hope you like it.
Hope to see you again soon
Big Hugs to all :-)

Good morning Tina ,a lovely card today although a bit too busy for my taste but than i am not a bow person .Love the roses !! Well let's hope the vegetable garden works out well it's quite rewarding to see it grow and to eat your own fresh veggies! Hugs JaneB xx
ReplyDeleteEvening Jane
DeleteI know a bow is not everyone's cup of tea. When I first started making cards I put a bow on everything, but as I have grown up I realise not everything needs one. Just used a bow on this one as I thought it finished that corner off. I really love the grosgrain ribbon and agree with Myra it ties really well, but thank you I love comments of all sorts. My next one is without a bow!!

Hi Jane
DeleteI also forgot to say I couldn't find our beautiful sunsets last year. Craig came over and organised my photo's, but unfortunately he didn't tell me what he has done with them. So until I find them, if I have a sunset worth sending to you I will but if you are still having beautiful sunsets, please send them to me I would love to see them.

Wow oh Wow Tina. This is more you! Love the background but seeing how you have to get messy I won't be doing it! Yes this whole card is stunning and it's lovely to see that you can use your DT products this month to make a card in your comfort zone. Yes where has the year gone! Enjoy making their card. Hazelxxx
ReplyDeleteHi Hazel
DeleteI don't know if that is what I should be doing with the stamps I have been sent, but I have been enjoying doing flowers to go along with their sentiments. Thank you Hazel

Oh yes time does fly Tina, so don't step off the roundabout! This is an absolutely fantastic card well within your comfort zone and boy does it show, everything just sings wonderful from the mountain tops on this card and the roses are as always so very life like, you can almost smell their perfume.
ReplyDeleteSorry like Hazel I will not be trying the messy method I don't like getting my hands all clarty (a Cumbrian expression for messy!) and talking of Cumbria, it's still very cold and windy, frost again this morning so definitely no garden planting yet!
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful card most definitely another Wonder of Tina card.
With love
Margaret xx
I promise I won't step off the roundabout, I don't think I could it's going too fast. Thank you Margaret you have a lovely way with words to talk about my cards. I know I got mucky with this technique, but maybe you will be less enthusiastic with the paste. I tend to think, in for a penny in for a pound. If I was to make a video for CE DT I would be such a mucky duck, not like Sue in any way shape or form, she is so clean & tidy, I would need Kim and Aggie to come in afterwards.
DeleteHope you are feeling a little less painfu
Take care, Love

Oh WOW Tina, amazingly beautiful. Thank goodness we have our internet back, it was out most of yesterday ! Managed to get into Sue's blog, send a few email's then wollop it went down, so much for modern technology !!!
ReplyDeleteIm hoping your kittens were elsewhere when you were grouting as I dread to think what havoc they would have caused if they insisted helping you again lol it really is a beautiful card and with your signature roses smiling at us, it just tops it off.
Good luck with your veg plot, never had any luck with toms, but spuds and bean's keep giving. Dont forget to use particular flower's inbetween your veg to help deter insects etc. Mind you hon, your midnight supper visitor may get to your veg before you get the chance to eat it !!! Cant imagin Paul will be to happy to see your badger eating his efforts lol.
Looking forward to seeing Claire's and Toby's 1st anniversary card, I know it will be totally stunning, where HAS that year gone ?!
Hope you have a lovely day.
Lancashire Steph xx
Hi Boss
DeleteThank you Steph, Bubble & Squeak were no where in the vicinity of my work room, could you imagine glitter paste everywhere, Yeh I can!! I thought it was our veg plot, but Paul refers to it as "he is going to do this or that ". I'm quite happy, if it goes wrong I can't be blamed. Is it marigolds you plant in between veg?or does that does encourage the pesky critters. Paul will be mortified if the badger eats everything, don't know what to do about that one, I love seeing the badger. So much has happened in this first year with our kids it makes our heads spin,Ii'm just scared that fast year has given me another wrinkle.

Tina XX
Why Don't I proof read before sending. I meant to say I thought it was OUR veg plot, not just Paul's, and also is it marigolds you plant to keep the little critters away. Paul was in my workroom while I was typing to you, and I thought I could do 2 things at one time, but I can't as I typed drivel.
DeleteHugs ME
Like it? Of course I do. This month's DT challenges have been perfect for you, you do the romantic card to perfection.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the veggie plot. I don't have a garden here, but my in-laws are avid gardeners, even at 92 and 83, so they keep me supplied with leek, onion, beetroot, tomatoes, beans. Nothing nicer.
I'm sure Claire and Toby's anniversary card will be out of this world, but yes, where has the year gone?
As to our weather, it's WET, and cold today. We didn't get snow here, just a little on top of the mountains, but after the few lovely days we had, this is horrid.
Cheers
Janice
Janice, Thank you. I agree. This months stamps have given me a little more scope for doing my type of card.
DeleteMy word, how fantastic that your in-laws are still doing their veggies and flowers, and it is so much better when you take home some home grown veg, especially if you haven't had the hassle as well. We'll see how this year goes, for Paul if it doesn't work out first time , he gives up. So fingers crossed. I hope your weather warms up soon for you, it's about time.

Hi Tina,
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful. I'm like you, I love to get "stuck in" which is just as well when I volunteer at the primary school!! Love to use a gelli plate and do altered art. Although after the last but one session when it took 4 days to finally get rid of the inks on my fingers, I've taken to wearing those ultra thin hospital type gloves.
Good luck with the veg. We grew loads last year but haven't got round to anything other than lettuce seedling at the moment. Too cold up in Newcastle to do anything else unless we had a greenhouse, which we don't!
Maureen xx
Hi Maureen
DeleteThank you. I have never had a go at the jelly plate, but it does look good fun and something I would love to have a go at. I will be back to you to ask for a lesson. I bet you have great fun with the Munchkins at school.
We have potted up our runners but they are in the kitchen in an Ikea box to bring them on, and Paul did sow our lettuce today, under acrylic lids over the planters. We don't have a greenhouse either. So when my kithen looks more like a greenhouse that's when I wil say enough!!.
Hi Tina,
ReplyDeleteForgot all about the grouting technique - I was most impressed when I saw Sue demoing it - thank you for reminding me. The card is lovely and I'm sure the anniversary one will be, too. Looking forward to seeing it on the blog.
Great news about the badger and I'm sure your veggies will do fine.
Still very cold here today, but at least it's sunny.
Hugs, Rose
Hi Rose
DeleteI'm sure you will have a great time grouting. The only thing I find is if you leave it to air dry for too long it dries too crisp to flatten. so I leave it for about an hour and then lay my cut n boss plates on it for a few hours and it comes out lovely and flat. Or leave overnight even better. Fingers crossed he/she keeps coming for their evening meal.
Talk soon, Big Hugs

Hi Tina,
ReplyDeleteThis one really is stunning! I love everything about it! I said Wow! when I saw it. I love the background, the sentiment and the roses are just perfect. That stripey ribbon I just love and hope CE don't stop selling it as it ties beautifully!
Good luck with the veg! I am about to go outside to plant some Ranunculus we bought last week - they are larger blooms than the ones we have and red and white which will make a nice bright spot . Everything else seems to be yellow or varying shades of purple at the moment. Apart from the Magnolia which is having a good year!
Keep up the excellent work! Thank you.
Love Myra xxx
Hi Myra,
DeleteI have to WOW, thank you so much for your lovely comment about my card, I love the grosgrain ribbon too and I agree it feels bulky but when you tie it into a bow it is just perfect to work with.
Ranunculus are beautiful, are they the one's that are quite east to dry, for display's. That splash of colour is going to look beautiful in your garden. Magnolia trees alway's reminds me of my mum. She loved them, and to this day I still Haven't got a magnolia tree. We rescued a tree from my Daughters garden last year, and to be honest we forgot about it. It stayed out in all the winter had to throw at it and all the rain, it lived in a black bin bag. Just before Claire got married this time last year we noticed shoots, so we dug a place in the garden fed the earth and the ugly tree turned into a swan, it was beautiful, a bit oriental. This year , nothing not a tiny bit of greenery on it, and we have nurtured that B tree. So I said to that's it I'm going to have my Magnolia tree in it's place. After 36 yrs he's agreed. I'm quite a patient person. Not!
Thank you again Myra

Beautiful card-a real keepsake.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear about your badger. I think our Hedgehog(s) might have woken up-hope so as they kept us entertained a lot last year. We had Daddy, Mummy & baby hog all visiting us. We also get Red squirrels here.
Michele
Hi Michele
DeleteThank you Michele.
If you haven't already seen the pics of the badger, they are a few post's back. I think it is fantastic when these little/ or not so little animals decide to appear in our gardens. It's quite a privilege. How lovely to have Daddy Mummy & baby hog come to visit. Do you have ant photo's I would love to see some. I have only seen one red Squirrel on a caravan site we were staying on, and the encouraged them to visit, it was quite magical, they're beautiful.

Hi Tina
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful, Tina, your cards are a real work of art. I'm glad I know what type of rose die you use. I adore your roses and have been umming and ahhing over the spellbinders create a (add name of flower here) dies. I brought some glitter texture paste too, I'm sure Sue has done a video on the grouting technique so I'm going to prep a few sheets in the colours I have.
Your Garden sounds lovely and your visitor will happily keep the slugs at bay, really pleased Brock is still saying hello. It's been beautiful here in Suffolk but Billy is not keen on the heat. I have to wet a bandana for him for round his neck. My baby brother is at uni in Cumbria, he was down here last week as it was warming up then went back up north and the weather is so bad- his degree involves being outside too so I look at the forecasts wishing the weather will improve for him.
Best wishes to Claire and her hubby for their first anniversary. The year has flown by.
Must go visit the other blogs, take care and hugs
T xxx
Hi T
DeleteThank you so much for calling my cards an art of work and umming and ahhing over my roses. I f you have got this die I would love to see some you have made, and also I would love to see Billy with his bandana cooling him down, how Cute!! I'm demanding aren't I. you can always say no, I won't be offended. Most of our garden is to the front of the bungalow, but Paul made an excellent job to get the back garden ready for Claire & Toby's blessing last year. When things are flowering and looking pretty I'll send you a picture, and hopefully the badger will be my slug pellet.
I will pass on your best wishes to the old married couple, thank you.
What is your baby bro doing at Uni that takes him outside? Margaret corgi owner emailed me at the weekend and said they were having snow, thank goodness he topped up with some sun before he went back to Cumbria.

Hi Tina
ReplyDeleteAlex us studying animal care and wildlife conservation though I don't recall the actual name of the course. He did his foundation degree here in Suffolk where we have marshes near the coast, it's very flat, one of the dryest places in the country and full of 'old fashioned' farming and countryside, a few forests and hundreds of old churches and other buildings that little creatures call home. To do his degree in Cumbria means he is experiencing a completely different environment- I had to drill in to him that the weather is very different, not to go wandering on those hills without certain items. I made him a survival bracelet with a whistle on the advice of a friend who walks in similar landscape and got lost when then fog dropped! I brought him a waterproof and a new ruck sack with a luminous waterproof rucksack cover, we told him that hs needed to wear hardier foot wear. All the family were telling him he couldn't wander round up there without a jacket in February like he does here! I think he thought we were going overkill but within a fortnight of starting the course he'd been caught in torrential rain and admitted in a phone call if we give him advice in the future he's going to believe us! He also knows he's incredibly privileged to have an opportunity his (much) older siblings didn't get as the way grant's are done he doesn't have to pay back till he's on £25k. His Dad is a single parent and disabled so he got a full grant. He won't have as bigger debt as some due to doing foundation degree while living at home. He's met a lovely young lady who came down with him at easter to meet us. We all miss him- he worked for me as a cleaner, dog sitter and PA, he was the only person I saw apart from Mr W most weeks, I've always been close to both brothers- but know he's doing what he loves.
I'd love to show you a picture of Billy but not too sure how! He's a tired boy today as he had 3 walks yesterday, he's curled up with his head resting on my legs. I will check your page further for an email address. There are pictures of him on my Facebook but it's not a platform I often use, its just so draining!
My garden is purely there for Billys enjoyment with concessions for me in the form of bird feeders and wild flower patches. He loves to sunbathe in the summer so we have sessions of me sitting out in my chair with Billy, on the lawn, belly up to the sunshine!
Must go, Mr W home in an hour so I'm going to try to have finished the blog hopping by then!
Hugs, T xxx
