NOT A CARD, but still got flowers

Hi Everyone

It's Friday already, isn't it scarey how fast the weeks seem to be passing. I did schedule this post for midday today, and I have just come in from to kitchen after making a cup of tea to see if it was the blog. needless to say I scheduled it wrong. Silly me.

I hope you are not too disappointed it's not a card today,it's an old chocolate box my daughter threw out about 2 years ago and as you know, us crafters tend not to throw anything away. I took it out of her bin and thought one day I'll decorate that, and here it is. There should have been 3 more roses but Bubble knocked them off my work desk and played with them on the floor then decided to see if they were edible. Makes for a good toy though. I've used this old box as my project to go into the Creative Expressions Newsletter. I still have to do the write up of products and how you can make it. I am still in the process of writing and photographing it, but I have taken some for you to look at.

I hope you like it. Please feel free to leave a comment, it will be more than welcome. Thank you

Products to follow shortly. Thank you very much for your visit.

WOW Tina, you really made up there for your "non-productive" day.......... and Bubble treated those roses and leaves with proper respect, they don't look mauled about at all. I bet she just kept practicing her "swipe" LOL.
I had a great day, the die machine is fabulous (cuts things like butter), the chair came together without any probs and is SO MUCH BETTER to work on than an ordinary chair (plus I now have a chair in my bedroom to fling my clohes onto) - to be able to swivel alone saves so much time! And I think after an initial block my creative mojo came back.
There is obviously NOTHING wrong with your creative mojo, that box is sheer gorgeousness!
Hope your illustrious dinner guest pays you a visit tonight....... and all is harmony and light in the Eldrige household.
    Hugs, Rose

    1. Bubble is a real fluffy tinker, and I couldn't say no to her when she was destroying a rose or two. I think her swipe is that good she could play a great round of golf, and get a hole in one. I have never seen a rose being thrown at such a distance and chased after and destroyed in one fair swoop.

Is your big shot an A4 machine, I'm not up on all the machines on the market. How clever are you to put together your chair, when I got my chair which I have to say is totally worn out now because Craig and Paul think I have the most comfortable chair in the house, but that is another story.

I can just imagine you spinning around in your new chair, and long may your creativity be back with you. I know I have said it before, but I would love to see your work. Enjoy your new mojo again, and everyone needs a chair in their bedroom room to throw clothes over. Unfortunately Paul beats me every night to that clothes horse.
I was just typing that I was going to stay up late tonight to see Broc ( we have decided to name him after the badger from Enid Blighton books), and low and behold he has just arrived for supper.

I hope you have had a brilliant day playing with your new craft life line, how fantastic.Enjoy!!

      Big hugs Rose

      Hi Tina,
Oh I can just imagine her chasing after her BIG prey!! Hadn't realised she had actually destroyed a few of your creations, good job you can make more!
I've left you a msg on Google+, don't know how the thing works but if you can let me have your email address then I can send you pics of my cards (which are nowhere as good as yours I hasten to add).
I now have three die cutting machines - started off with the cuttlebug but never warmed to that thing. Then I saw Sue on C&C with the GC and I was hooked - on her creations and on the GC. Found it was a great machine but last year when in full xmas production!! my GC decided to play up and not cut some of her dies properly. My friend recommended the Big Shot and I acquired one of them, liked it a lot but had to use the GC for the A4 embossing plates etc..... So I was over the moon when I found out that Sizzix had brought out a Big Shot Plus and that it would be on the market now. I pre-ordered mine in Feb and it arrived two days ago (now , how time flies). It's brilliant....... I like it that the gears etc are steel and not just plastic as in the GC. I know they say they've strengthened the innards but are too cagey for my liking what they've used as material so prefer the Sizzix one. (The cuttlebug went to an animal charity shop, the PDSA).
Wonder whether you'll have little Brocs eventually?? If he is a she then you might, it would be truly magical. I can remember as a child I grew up in rural surroundings with a fair number of outhouses, a couple of stables, chicken coops duck enclosures etc. And we had residents hedgehogs who brought out their kids every evening for a food reccie, we used to sit very still and watch the little ones walk single-file - very well behaved they were. It was magical.
Anyway, I think I'd better turn in, have a good Saturday and Sunday.
      Hugs, Rose

    3. Hi Rose

Yes the little monster destroyed 3 roses, but it made her happy, so that's OK! Firstly I have to say how stupid I am, how on earth did I get the spelling wrong on Enid Blyton, what a nincompoop, how does this happen I have spelt nincompoop right but the right way to spell Blyton has come up as a spell check.

I was born on a farm in Lymington, Hampshire. I don't remember as we left when I was quite young, but mum said they were good times, hard but good.

when we first moved into our place now. I was determined to have more animals and within 2 weeks I was rescuing hens from a battery farm. I ended up with 8. The fist one must have been so grateful we became good friends and she would run too see me when I went into the garden. I would sit on the grass and she would sit on my lap making the cutest little noise. Sadly they are no longer with us. I would like to get some more, but now Claire and Craig have left home there wouldn't be anyone to feed them and collect the eggs. I do miss it though. I have tried to push my luck and asked for some ducks, but Paul said absolutely not. I won't give up!!

Wouldn't it be something special if Broc turned out to be a mummy, I'm buying a sack of nuts every 2 weeks now, I can see that turning into a lorry load. If she does bring her babies around for tea, I will be flashing away and they will be going on my blog. That is pictures of the badgers, not me flashing, that would be enough to turn anyone vegetarian.

I'm pleased your new machine has arrived, hows the playing coming along. Is that the machine with the dial to adjust the rollers ?. If it is I saw that one just after I ordered my Cut n Boss and wished I had waited. Hey Ho! My first machine was a GC it was fine for a while but mine also busted because of the plastic cogs, I replaced it with the Joy Trouvaille which also cut like butter, and my little cutter is a Spellbinders Artisan, this is a really tough little machine.

My email address is :- dfc2210@hotmail.co.uk, I can't wait to see your lovely work.

Hope you have a lovely weekend too. Take care, talk soon

      Big Hugs

  2. Evening Tina,
Well, this is so pretty. Imagine it sitting on a girl's dresser, holding her trinkets and jewels.
What is it with us crafters, can't throw anything out. I am terrible, everything has to be inspected for an alternative use. Problem is that to others it is akin to the hoarder next door. I have one friend who, although I love her totally, is quite minimalist. Just as well we have known each other for so long that we can be tolerant of each other. She always enjoys the fruits of my collections though. Main problem, I don't just collect paper, it's also fabric.
Wish I could visit you and see the badger. The few times I have seen one it's just been a fleeting view, not like yours. Do the cats not notice him coming?

    1. Thank you Janice

Claire has not seen this make over yet and I know she will want it back. I need to think of something special to put in it.

I remember 2 yrs ago we cleaned out Paul's shed and had a skip. We put loads of what we thought was rubbish. The next day we got up to a half empty skip.

How funny that the most minimalist people always enjoy something that has a lot more over the top and fru fru to boot. keep saving the fabric, I'm with you , you never know when it will come in handy.,

You would be more than welcome to come and see the badger. He has been back for the second time tonight already. His first visit was before 10 O'clock and he left again about 20 mins ago. we are not sure if it is a different badger, and maybe we are lucky enough to have more than one. I'm going to have to take more notice of their markings. I tend to put the cat out of my workroom before the badger arrives as I don't want to freak the badger.

  3. Hi Tina,
This is pure opulence and indulgence. It's gorgeous. George goes mad with me because I never throw anything away, but I was always like that. I'll say "you never know when that might come in handy", and he throws it out. A few months later I could have found a use for it, so now I don't say anything, I hide it on one of my shelves in the garage, or the bottom of my wardrobes. Just the other day he said "Time I was clearing out the garage" so I think I'd better get in and rescue them!!!

    1. Hi Maureen

I'm with you, I find little nooks and cranny's that I can hide my goodies in. When Paul say's it's time to have a clear out I panic, because I think where the hell am I going to find a hiding place for all that stuff!!

      Happy hiding places

  4. Hi Tina, Just love your beautiful box. I have just been decorating a cigar box (not a fraction as good as yours).
I was just experimenting with which glue to use and whether it would mark the ribbon. I also had a job of not making it too fancy incase my granddaughters new kittens took a fancy to it.When I saw your box I realized how rubbish mine is and what lovely ideas you have. It is a case of "why didn't I think of that" I have that much "stuff" in the workroom that I can't remember what I have got and it made me think I had better get some sorting out done. Lovely to hear you still get your visitor on a night. Mary- Durham

    1. Hi Mary

Thank you Mary. Please don't say that about your box, I'm sure it is beautiful. We are always our own worst critics. I have to say I have bought things and have found a place for it to live, thing is I can't remember. I should have a sort out too. It's going to feel a bit like Christmas when you find things you bought a while ago. Have fun!!

Rose sent me a message and said what if Broc turns out to be a girl and has babies. I think it will be a bigger table and more chairs to find and a lorry load of nuts.

  5. Hi Tina

Such a pretty transformation. Must admit I do as many boxes as I do cards. I recently did storage for my pencils and pastels. Wood, MDF, tin or board I love it all. I love your roses, are they dies?

Really happy you named the badger Brock as I adored reading Enid Blyton books as a kid. Truthfully I'd love to read all those stories again. I don't know how many times I re read them- they were my comfort blanket growing up, even reading the during my GCSE's to relax. I always felt I was right there with the famous five or with the children in the magic faraway tree. I might try find them on ebooks as those stories were so well written.

Have a lovely (rest of) weekend,

    T x

  6. Hi Tina,
Such a beautiful work of art, I can just see it on a dressing table it's so pretty, it would get a beautiful way to give a gift, just a few choccies and it would be a perfect gift for anyone ! You kitty sounds a bit like mine, the two of them seem to have taken over my craft room, I keep following trails of ribbon, the other day I was stood sneakily watching Bella, she had spent a good half hour sticking her paw into a big glass jar I have full of coloured feathers, she was having an amazing time, you just can't be cross with them can you!
Thank you for sharing such a pretty creation!
