  1. Hi Tina
This is a really beautiful card love it so elegant looking.
I do hope that Berkeley is coping,I really love his picture relaxing on his hols. You said on Sue Wilson's blog about getting urine samples for testing well at least by the look of the length of his legs it will be easier than when we had to collect the same from our corgi Oliver who had Cushings, can you just picture us following him around our garden with a foil tray to slide under his little legs to collect! Not easy I can tell you. Just hang on in there I am sure your vet will soon get him on the right level of medication. I do firmly believe vets give a better service than NHS doctors so he will soon be ok and quicker than we would. He is in my prayers do give him a hug from me and tell him two little corgis Tomas and Amy send him licks.
We lost Oliver early last year but not to Cushings we had 16 wonderful years with him and our vets were fantastic with him, thanks to them we had him much longer than we expected. At first we said no more, can't cope with the loss but at Easter phoned the breeder where we got Oliver from to see if there were any going to be available soon.We were told there was going to be no more, but she had 2 needing a home, a brother and sister 6 years old to cut a long story short, Easter Tuesday we set off from Cumbria to Huddersfield to see them and came back with them, they are absolutely wonderful.
I hope you all enjoyed your holiday last year at Keswick we live just a few miles from there, small world!
    With best wishes

    1. Hi Margaret

I'm so sorry I have'nt got back to you sooner, only it is my husbands 60th birthday today and it has been like a mad house. I had to finish his card ( as you do being a crafter, they expect it now, ) I think it's because we have to justify just how much we have spent on our goodies.
I have to say a big thank you for your thoughts, and hugs and licks from Thomas and Amy. I did laugh at your comment about the sample of urine. I can imagine trying to take a sample from a dog with short legs is not an easy task, but Berkeley is a bit of a traveler in motion following her around with said container, and the look she gives us is, "for goodness sake can't a girl get a bit of privacy around here". We are at last managing to go longer through the night, so that is good for us and definitely for Berkeley. So fingers crossed it 's not a cure but it is manageable.
I'm so sorry about your loss of Oliver, and although 16 yrs is a long time it's just not long enough, you look back on all the lovely memories , but it's just not long enough.Every single pet we take on we want them to be with us for as long as we are around. You sound as soft about animals as I am. When we moved to where we are now in a quiet little village, there was a feral cat. I used to leave food out for her and made a bed in our little back porch and I gave her my husbands best jumper to snuggle into. 21/2yrs later the weather was really bad, so wet windy and cold, I opened the back door ,she shot in between my legs jumped on the settee and never looked back. We lost her just before Christmas of old age, the vet thought she was about 17yrs, We also lost our little Jessica, another rescue cat she was only 6yrs old. She passed away just after Purdie (feral cat). We came back from holiday and all the cats were due their yearly jabs, 2 days later Jess was fighting for her life. She died 2wks later of heart failure. So as you can imagine we could do with some good news on the animal front. I'm really not this sad all the time, it has just all come at once. I hope I have'nt put you off talking to me again. Sue has just created such a lovely thoughtful group of of people on her blog, and for that I'm really grateful. I hope your not too bored with my war and peace tale and that you have'nt fallen asleep face down on your key board. Thank you again Margaret. God Bless

      Kind regards :-) Tina X

    2. Good morning Tina
So lovely to hear from you.
I know just what you mean it was my husbands birthday in January and his card was made the night before 11pm to be exact!
What I didn't tell you was usually when we were trying to get samples from Oliver it was very early morning and I was running around after him in my jim jams! You may laugh it was ok in summer but rather chilly in winter.
I am so pleased that Berkeley is improving small steps, given time and love she will get there and she will be getting that by the bucket load I feel sure so keep up the good work. As to cats they dare not come near our garden Amy is after them in a flash, Derek says when they are out for walks if she spy's one she is up on her back legs eager to get to it barking away. There are some dogs' too that she has taken a dislike to and they have never bothered her, she is a little madam, but looks so peaceful butter would not melt! Tomas is the nervous one he never bothers another animal all he likes is to be sitting on my knee or at my feet, he follows me into my sewing room (not that much sewing gets done these days I have been working on the same quilt for over a year) where he lays himself down while I am doing my cards.
I wholeheartedly agree what you say about Sue creating a really thoughtful group of people on her blog they are treasures and no mistake, I do wonder just how many of the new folks will stay, but it will be their loss if they leave, she is stuck with me she is such a treasure. Did you notice what Julia Watts said the other day on her blog that there were no plans for Sue to sell her range on Create and Craft as yet?
No Tina I was not bored reading your tale and I am still awake but must go as it's Wednesday and that means it is bathroom cleaning day, yes I groan at the thought of it too, but I am hopeful that the postman will be bringing me one of my orders with Sue's new dies in today. Every cloud has a silver lining.
Before I go I must tell you the fells are so white with snow they look wonderful!
      Love and Hugs to Berkeley

    3. Hi Margaret, I did send you a message, but Paul said I had sent it somewhere, but not to you, sorry. Your dogs sound totally adorable, proper little characters. Going back to Sue, what a lovely thing she did for Tres, that lady has a heart old gold.

We are going back up to the Lakes this year, I can't do without my yearly dose of the Lakes. We stay in the caravan club site called Low Manesty, do you know it, it is so beautiful along side Derwent Water, and Berkeley loves all the little beaches on her many walks. I can only imagine how beautiful the fells look now with the snow, but don't you feel like knitting all the sheep little booties, sad are'nt I. I love the snow, and loved it even more before my children could drive, now it is just a big worry. I hope your dies turned up today and that you are in die cut heaven. Talk soon X Tina

    4. Hi Tina, Hang on in there, these things do take time I know it is so hard and Berkeley will be frightened as she will not know what is happening to her, bless her. Have you tried giving her a blanket rolled or folded up to snuggle in to for comfort especially when you are not there with her, we once had a corgi that took great comfort in an extra scrunched up blanket when he was ill. Just remember if you show you are worried and upset Berkeley will pick up on that, so try and put your bravest face on for her, I know it is hard but you will get there once they get the medication right.
Give her an extra big hug from me and Tomas and Amy too.
      Sending you all a hug
      Margaret x

    5. Hi Margaret, I can't believe how lovely every one is. I t's really a comfort when you hear from people that have gone through similar things. I have just got back from the vet again today, they have taken another blood sample to check sodium and a few other items I can't pronounce let alone spell, and the results hopefully will be back tomorrow. If you don't mind I will let you know the results. Fond Regards Tina X thank you for the hugs much appreciated.

    6. Hi Tina, It is good that you are getting the results tomorrow and not having to wait and wait as we would have to. Once they get the investigations done and get her onto the right level of medication things will improve. Sometimes it can take a little while for them to adjust and cope with the drugs being introduced. Is Berkeley drinking enough at the moment because if not salts and minerals can become concentrated and this can give rise to problems. Our last corgi Oliver had these problems and we had to measure his intake of fluids as well as catching samples at the other end. It is really surprising until you measure their intake you have no real idea and his intake could vary by over 500ml. Our vet told us that as he was on dried food this was also important to keep a close eye on his intake. Do please let me know how things go, you are in our thoughts and prayers.
      Hugs to you all

    1. Hi Margaret, I'm so sorry I have not been in contact, or on blog. It has been so sad, and I have cried loads. Today I thought I was going to say goodbye to Berkeley. 3 days ago we were told to up the dose of medication ,and last night we noticed she was losing the use of her back legs. She was no better this morning. I had to go out with my daughter to discuss final decorations for her wedding on good Friday. When I came back no more than 3 hrs later she could hardly stand. Her back legs were very wobbly and she walked into the door frame trying to get back in from the garden. I rang the vet ,and took her straight down. They did a lot of physical tests, and then rang a company that deal with drug side effects, and given the symptoms they said to cut dosage down by half immediately.. We will be on dog watch tonight. Thank you for the idea of a cuddle blanket, she does have one but I rolled up a familiar jumper and she has her head on it now as I type. Thank you so much for keeping in contact about my Berkeley dog.Big hugs back to you and your corgi 's. X Tina

    2. Hi Tina
Please no apology needed, I just had a feeling things were not going too well, a similar thing happened with Oliver and our vet rang the drugs company we had to keep reducing the dose in fact for a few months we had to stop the drug until it was out of his system, then reintroduced very slowly, so I know just what you are going through. Do keep an eye on how much she is drinking as I have said, our vet told us the body fluid levels can effect the drug level in the body. When they have to be given drugs like this it can take a while to get the dose just right, so hang on in there she will be fine I am sure once they get the dose correct.
We have two daughters and both are married so I know just what you are going through, you want everything to be just perfect. You will be able to make a memory album afterwards they are so lovely to make, and such a lovely way to keep all the little things like place cards and invitation replies etc, all together. I even made them wedding congratulation cards from Oliver and they were delighted with them and made sure they were read out at the reception which gave everyone a laugh!
We are thinking of you all, and are sending big hugs to Berkeley and you.

    3. Hi Margaret,

Another bad day with Berkeley, she is not drinking as much as I think she should, she is not eating although when you put a piece of chicken or fish under her nose she will take it then spit it out. I know this a lot to ask but. Could I ask you Margaret, would it be possible for you to send me an email with your phone number so that I could ring you back and ask more questions from someone that has gone through a similar problem with Oliver. I fully understand if you don't want to, and hope I could still ask questions through my blog. My email is-: dfc2210@hotmail.co.uk
      Kind Regards Tina X
