1st CE DT Card for March

Good Tuesday morning everyone, and welcome to my 1st DT Card for March. I had such a hectic month last month full of family related cards and parties and get together's, not that I am complaining as we had some lovely family time. I am now able to breath a bit easier this month and hopefully get some Tina cards made.

To all my lovely blog friends further up country you have had some horrendous weather and I hope by the time you read this things would have settled down for you. We have had really strong winds today ( Monday ). I went to the wholesalers looking fairly respectable, but coming home like I had been pulled through a hedge backwards.

For this month we have no stamps, it's dies, and it's all about love.

I just hope I have done my 1st card justice so here goes!!

Products Used:-

8X8 black card
Creative Expressions Foundation card- Periwinkle
Creative Expressions- Vintage Silver Card
Sue Wilson EF- Bed of Roses
Creative Expressions- Heart dazzlers
CE- Bakers Twine pale blue
Grosgrain ribbon
Couture Creations- Ornamental Lace Die
Spellbinders- Grand Squares
CE- Celebration Sentiments
CE- Diamond Sprinkles
Cosmic Shimmer- Ebony Ice
Sue Wilson- Finishing Touches- Classic Rose
Tim Holtz Distress Ink- Weathered Wood

My colour scheme is black , silver and periwinkle blue.
I started with Matt and layering silver and periwinkle blue card. The second layer of matt and layering, around the black layer I added double sided tape and sprinkled Ebony Ice. I then cut a heart with the couture creations heart die. I then pleced it on a piece of double sided sticky sheet.I took the back of the sticky sheet off and attached it to pale blue vellum and hand cut around the heart, to the front I covered it with Diamond Sprinkles and added 5 pale blue gems from my stash. I then attached the heart to my matt and layered top which I had used the new Sue Wilson EF , Bed of Roses. Before attaching the top layer to my card I wrapped some grosgrain ribbon and also tied a big bow too. I wound some bakers twine around the strip of ribbon and made a little ribbon and glued it to the main bow. I stamped the sentiment from Creative Expressions celebrations sentiments and cut it out with spellbinders Grand Squares and while still in the die I just gave a bit of a shadow with weathered Wood Distress Ink. I made a rose from Sue's finishing touches die and dusted with yet more diamond sprinkles then added black and white leaves just to keep in with the colour scheme . Et Voila!! I hope you like it.

As usual I would love to hear your comments
Take care everyone, Talk soon

  3. Hi Tina,
How beautiful, I've looked and looked and can't decide if you've got a light behind the heart, or it's the flash from the camera!! Anyway, the whole thing is gorgeous.

Thank you. No there is no light behind it, it is just my overhead daylight light. If you get it at the right position it tends to give a back light look. Hope that makes sense.

    Hi Tina,
Lovely card, and if I see that embossing folder a few more times, i'll definitely end up buying it. The roses are so lovely!
I'm not really a hearts and stuff girl but this one is just right.
Just having waved the "handy hubby" goodbye, it's a guy that does all the little jobs round the house not of interest to a builder. And Handy Hubby is what he calls himself. Now "Beirut" bedroom is empty of old wardrobes/dressing table, the skip is loaded, he even broke up some chairs in the garage for me and now I can see parts of the floor again! I'll get round to getting this one respectable again once the weather has warmed up a bit.
It was so cold yesterday, we had horizontal snow coming down, luckily it didn't stay. Found some more lovely fabric, will have to start sewing again in earnest. High time, too - the choice in skirts in the shops is dismal! I prefer to wear skirts instead of trousers but don't seem to produce them, especially for the chubby folk (like me). We learnt to sew in school (I come from Germany), but I wasn't any good because I didn't see much point to it. That soon changed when I was married and short of money and I enjoy dressmaking anyway. BUT I need a pattern to follow, a friend of mine does it without - I'm in awe of her.
    Now for a well-deserved cuppa and warm-up.
Then I need to get a card made and sent off today, tomorrow another one in time for Saturday. But tomorrow I shall also go to the flicks with friends so not much will get done that day. And then Thursday is installation day for the other units, so will have to be up early again. Not easy for a night-owl like me.
    Have a great day,
    Hugs, Rose

    1. Hi Rose

you really need to buy this EF it is sooo pretty, and I'm sure you will use it loads.

I want a Handy Hubby, is he willing to travel. With Paul out of action after dislocating his shoulder for the 2nd time and now waiting for an operation, DIY jobs are only on a needs must attitude. Usually on his needs ,so therefore must, but I've a few jobs that need doing like building our conservatory that has definitely been put on hold. I am only joking, that is way to big of a job for your Handy Hubby.

I hope you had a lovely time at the flicks with your friends, and are now fired up to deal with all your other jobs going on in your home.

I too am a night owl, I am sometimes still in my workroom at 4am, especially if hubby is snoring or I have an allergy attack going on with sneezing ,eyes streaming and coughing, great look eh! , but rather than keep Paul awake as he has work the next day I spend time in my workroom. So if you are still up, leave a message and if I'm up I would love a chat.

      Big hugs

    2. Hi Tina,
I shall get that EF for sure. Just bought the Indigoblu stamp "Funny bird" - love the sentiments on there. Have to go for now, but shall have a chat today when the wardrobes are being installed.
So good to hear you're a night-owl, too.

      Hi Tina,
Me again, before turning in ...... third unit safely installed, am now getting warm - why do tradesmen always leave all the doors open? I HATE heating the outside!! Now "all" I have to do is getting the contents (and more besides) in and then that major chunk of work is done. BUT I have to catalogue all my bits and bobs so that I don't lose track of where what is - don't mean my clothes but all the extra fabric I'd stashed away in those units, too.
So sorry to hear about your allergy attacks - do you know what brings them on?
Didn't go to see the film after all, we've postponed it until next week as it suits us all better then. So that's something to look forward to.
I'm very glad we did that because I wouldn't have got a card finished for Saturday with all the other commitments - it's so misleading when we see the demos because all the head-scratching and working out what to use with what, colours, embossing etc has already been worked out beforehand. And I find that is the time-consuming part (but also very enjoyable, to play about with all the stuff). I can't work from a sketch, and find that selecting roughly what dies/stamps I might want to use, then colours etc works best for me. I certainly NEVER have a picture in my head. That's why I love the various blogs I visit - must admit, the morning starts with me visiting Sue Wilson's. She is totally amazing, in my book and like a magpie I have no probs taking some of her ideas and adapting them. Afraid I do that with all the craft blogs................ But I suppose everyone likes looking at what another person's come up with.
Hopefully the weather will be a bit kinder to us and warm up a bit. It is very cold in Chester but I suppose we could be in New York ........bbbbbbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhhh............ doesn't bear thinking about, just saw that plane crashing into a fence on landing, didn't think it was possible to land with that much snow on the ground.
OK, that's it for me, I'll just relax for a little while longer and then ............. bed............

I really felt for you when your lovely dog died, I had to take my beautiful cat Katinka to be put to sleep at the end of Sept. 2014, she was 20.5 yrs old but it was the hardest thing I had to do in my life. Still grieve for her but by next year I'll be ok to welcome another two felines into my life. (always start off with two litter mates, it's easier for them) .
      Have a lovely weekend,
      Hugs, Rose

Is this a new CC die they've sent you ? Wonder why they chose a heart subject now and not February ? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick ? Im not usually a dumb numpty, I just cant get my head round it lol.
Net CE adored this first card for March.

    1. Hi Steph

I know you probably won't be at home by the time you get this message. Yes it is a new set of dies from CE, I too would have liked them for February, but I think they are now homing in on Mothers day, you are never, not no way a numpty as I did think the same.

I am sending you big hugs and will be thinking of you while you are in hospital. You know how to contact me if you need a chat, and would love to hear from you, but really understand about the phone connections. Be brave Boss XX

    1. Hi Patricia

Thank you I love your comment thank you so much. No, there's no light just an overhead daylight light that is clipped onto a shelf above where I work, and if you position it right it gives the background light. Hope that makes sense.. Just going to pop over to your site to check out those bags again as I now have sometime to visit other blogs.

  10. This one just shouts Tina. You have got the perfect items for your cards his month. I know that being on a DT is a good way to stretch your talents, but for now, you are in your comfort zone, and producing your masterpieces.
I was going to ask about lighting, too, but I see I was not the only one with that thought. It is a fantastic effect, just tell all recipients to place under a light.

    1. Hi Janice

Thank you for calling my cards a masterpiece, and you're right I am in my comfort zone. I must push myself to dip my toe into something different and if I don't like it I know I can always come back to my comfy slippers. I still have at least 3 more cards to make with these dies, my brain is working overtime, but as yet it's not churning anything out, will work on it though.
