BEST WISHES

Good Tuesday morning everyone

I hope you all had a good weekend, I'm not even going to mention the weather as it really isn't worth the waste of oxygen. I do know one lady that is having lovely sunshine, and that's Jane in Spain, Please Please send us some of your lovely sunshine. Don't leave yourself short, but every little over here you send would help.

I have one more card to make with these dies which I have had to  make ahead of time as the lovely Lucinda who puts the cards on CE blog and facebook is on holiday next week, so we have had to make an extra one this week.I Hope you have a lovely break Lucinda, you deserve it.

All made and scheduled for 30th June, then it's Christmas!! YAY!!!

Where are my butterflies going to go in this Christmas month? If I can make a mobile Christmas card with a pear stamp and a butterfly Christmas tree as I did last year, I've got to think where else I can put them.

Hope you all have a good week and look forward to seeing you all again. XX

Products Used:-

 Sue Wilson- Portuguese collection- Lisbon
Sue Wilson- Noble Dies- Classic Adorned Squares
Sue Wilson- Portuguese collection- Porto
Sue Wilson- Finishing Touches- Classic Foldover Flowers
Sue Wilson- Finishing Touches- Dandelion Clocks
Sue Wilson- Finishing Touches- Maidenhair Fern
JustRite- Hydrangea Vintage Labels Seven ( Sentiment )
Creative Expressions- Graceful Mustard Gilding Wax
Tim Holtz- Distress Ink- Dusty Concord
Foundations Card- Lilac and Black
Sue Wilson- Embossing Folder- Climbing Vines

First I did my usual double matt & layering using black, gold & lilac foundations coloured card, and the top layer embossed with Sue's Climbing Vines EF. I cut a frame from  the noble die set embossed it and gilded it with graceful mustard wax. For the focal point I used the middle of the noble die in black and turned it 45deg's  to add a different shape to the centre. I then put the gilded frame on top with sticky pads for dimension. I then cut out the two centre's of the Porto collection and also the centre of the Lisbon collection. I stamped the sentiment onto the circular die and while it was still in the die I coloured it with dusty concord. I then layered each of them all with sticky pads
for even more dimension. I cut several flowers large and small and arranged them on the card and added some leaves made from Sue's maidenhair fern dies and dandelion clock dies, and of course a butterfly.

I hope Sue designs some more butterflies of various sizes, I NEED some more.

Hope you like the card today.

Big Hugs to all

  1. We have sunshine here! Yay! As for butterflies, everyone needs butterflies. Why can't there be butterflies on a Christmas card? Just like Christmas itself, butterflies symbolise new life, hope and joy. You go for it!

Today's card is in beautiful colours. I love the way the "heavy" gilding is balanced with the delicacy of the mauve and the striking gold. The sea anemones look very pretty... I know the are supposed to be flowers but I live in Oz and the really look like sea creatures.

I hope you get some sunshine soon.

    Best wishes

    1. Hi Jayem

As I am typing the sun has decided to make an appearance, for how long, who knows. I will take your advice on the butterflies and go for it. Although I have to use the products I get from Creative Expression I might sqeeze my last years butterfly card on my blog along with my CE Christmas card, and the mobile pear card the week after.

Thank you so much for leaving me such a lovely comment and comparing them to the beautiful sea anemones. Whoops sun has decided to be shy again, Hey Ho!

      Hope to see you again

    1. Hi Sheila

How are you today?, I really hope you are feeling better after your break.

Thank you Sheila for your lovely comment, and I agree they are lovely flowers to make and quick too. I have come up with a few ideas already for the butterflies, but they won't be hidden, I hope CE won't mind. I'm sure if they don't like it they will let me know.

Sun is playing a long game of hide & seek, we catch it for about 5 mins at a time. Everyone needs a bit of sunshine in their lives.

      Take care Sheila

    Hi Tina,
Love your pompom flowers (and that little butterfly), and am mightily intrigued with the "butterfly tree" ? Somehow butterflies and Xmas don't go in my book, but I know what Jayem means. BUT we are freezing NOW can you imagine a poor little butterfly trying to get warm and find a flower..............
Weather here also leaves a lot to be desired but at least we've had some very welcome rain. So cold or no, I have to get out into the garden, not even thinking about Xmas cards as yet (and then I'll panic around end Oct).
    Have a great day, regardless.
    Hugs, Rose

    1. Hi Rose

I sent you an email with some cards attached, so you can see the butterfly tree. I promise there will be a flower and I'll make sure it's warm colours.

I agree about the rain, the only good thing is it has taken the watering of the veg and the hanging basket out of my hands, so grateful for small mercies, but enough now!

I normally have my cards written by October, but last year after joining the CE team only 2people got handmade cards the others had animal charity cards. Must try harder this year.

    1. Hi Lynda

Yet another stunning comment from you, Thank you very much.

I think the Creative Expressions felt is softer than Hobbycraft felt. I did try to cut a butterfly out of felt but it just fell to pieces, the die was to intricate me thinks!

I promise I won't make the butterflies redundant, I shall glitter them to within an inch of their lives and find somewhere for them.

  7. WOW What an amazingly, stunning and beautiful card, hopefully this is a reminder that summer is coming, well we will try anything to encourage it to come, your veg beds must be getting desperate for some sun Tina. 1. Hi Margaret

Thank you Margaret, I hope summer is on the way too, I shouldn't complain as you have had it pretty bad further up country. Wouldn't it be lovely if Sue would make various sizes of butterflies, maybe in her next release, after the Christmas one that is.

The runner beans look like triffids, the potatoes are about 4ft tall, parsnips are going mad, the onions look as though they are going to be whoppers, loads of flowers on the tomatoes, french beans coming along nicely and the lettuces are so tasty. All in all I would say coming along nicely. We have never done so much before but really enjoying it.

Glad your email is back to normal, and sorted fingers crossed.

  8. Hi Tina,
Your card today is soo ooo pretty l I love how you have used the frame and the flowers as ever the just the very best!
I like how you have used the dandelion clocks and fern too! I've been surprised how useful these "clocks" are.
I was thinking about you Christmas butterfly!! Well , you know what I mean. I have lovely big ornamental sparkly butterflies which hang on my Christmas tree. You often see them as ornaments for trees and swags - so - maybe that will give you a little start? It's fun thinking about it anyway! Just call me Sad!
    Lots of love, Myra xxx

How are you today, well I hope. Thank you so much for this lovely comment today, I'm taken aback about the flowers and frame.

Myra I don't think you are sad at all. I have glittery butterflies clipped on shelves lampshades and even on the ceiling fan in my workroom, you ought to see that butterfly go when the fan is on fast. I have a couple of cockatiels ( Eric & Ernie ) and they like to sit up there with the butterfly, but only on slow speed. They look so cute and always makes me laugh.

    1. Hi Mary

What a lovely thing to say about my cards, thank you. That would be a lovely place to send them for the warmth over our winter, just so long as they come back for our summers. I will try and think of a card and colours for an Australian Christmas card.

  11. Hi Tina,
Sorry there have been no comments from me recently, so many tourists to be looked after, but I have just given myself a treat an looked at all your cards for June. Wow, they are all stunning. You may like to include flowers and butterflies, but the cards are all so different. I think I love the "friends" one best of all.
You have risen to the challenge of so many different dies, stamps and styles and I for one have enjoyed seeing your take on each one, and the beautiful cards you have made.
    Cheers

Do you you run a hotel as you sound so busy looking after tourist.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I do like the friend card now , but at the time I could have thrown the flowers on the compost heap as I couldn't seem to get then looking right, but after a few hours and more die cuts later I thought it looked OK. Now when I look back at it I like it more, and had some lovely comments too.Including yours Thank you Janice.

  13. Hi Tina. Oooooh This is a lovely card !! I especially love how you have used the Clasic Adorned Square Dies to make the frame and I am surprised that you used mustard gilding wax on your frame. I thought it looked more golden like enchanted gold gilding wax !! I really love the colours you have used to. The lilac looks great contrasting with the gold and black. I love Pastel dreamy colours but I love the contrast between the light and more bold colours that you have used here. Beautiful Foldover flowers to. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful card Tina. I love all your creations. I hope you and your family are well. Lots of love from Tres x x x
