1st DT Birthday Card for May

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a lovely bank holiday, and that the weather was kind enough not to stop you having a good one.

I can't believe with the rain we have had, have made the trees and shrubs burst into a life again throughout the garden, it's just amazing what a few heavy down pours can do for the garden. Our snowball tree is turning white and the blue bells under one of the trees are stunning.

This weeks card was made using Phil Martins Sparkle texture paste, and birthday verses, although I cut them up to accommodate the die but that is the beauty of stamps you can cut them to make your own sentiment. The only tip is, just cut it once don't go back to round or clean edges because you will never line them up again to make the original sentiment. Hope that makes sense.

I really appreciate all your visits to my little blog land, and hope you will leave a comment and visit me again. Thank you

Anyway here goes!

Hope you like this one too.

Products used:-

Phil Martin's- Sparkle texture paste
Phil Martin's- Birthday verses
Foundation Card- Blush
Sue Wilson- Finishing Touches- Peony complete petal
Sue Wilson-Scandinavian collection-Oslo
Sue Wilson- Portuguese collection- Border Corner & Tag
Sue Wilson- Portuguese collection- Lisbon
Sue Wilson- Finishing touches- Maidenhair Fern
Tim Holtz distress Ink- Tattered Rose
Creative Expressions- Iced snow
Creative Expressions Mask- A touch of Class
Sue Wilson- EF Rambling Rose

First I matt and layered Black silver and blush card and embossed the blush card with the Rambling Rose EF by Sue Wilson. I made a smaller matt with the same combination.

I then cut a piece of card 51/2"x51/2 and used the touch of class mask, I taped it down first and spread the Cosmic Shimmer sparkle paste over it. Lift off carefully and leave to dry for a couple of hours. When dry I cut the border die from the Portuguese collection 4 times. I managed to keep the 3 middle fancy pieces and cut either side of them , leaving the little tear drop shape to hook over the front of the card and attached on all 4 sides. I then cut the centre of the card out with largest plain cutting die from the Scandinavian Collection, Oslo, Each die after that I cut out the centre so that my sentiment will be set back in a deep aperture. I used Sue's New Peony flower dies nad maidenhair dies to create the flowers and attached some voile just to finish it off.

Thank you again for your visit, it is very much appreciated, and hope to see you again soon.

Take Care All

Big Hugs

    1. Hi Jane

So lovely to hear from you again. I'm sorry about not posting a card in between my DT card, but I have to put my hand on my heart and say I couldn't think of anything to do with the products sent this month. I didn't use the colours sent but did use the same products that I had purchased myself. I like Pastels and CE sent me dark green. Anyway, got a bit more mojo back and not enough time to make all my ideas up, but I'll have a go at one tomorrow.

I think Sue's release of the new dies were fantastic and I have to admit to buying some already, she is amazing. How lovely to have such a high temp of 26 degrees, is that normal for this time of year? We have had sunshine ,showers and very very strong wind. Looks like we are in for more of the same tomorrow. HEY HO! could be worse. It just means more crafting.

  3. Hi Tina,
Oh how I adore your style of card and today's stunning creation is without exception. The blush card is my favourite in the whole of the Foundations card I just love the delicate shade of it and I love how you have added th touch of black...it just makes the blush pop out more. Your flowers are always so beautiful too. I'm just popping in when I feel up to it so please forgive me if I go missing from time to time.
Take care and have a lovely day whatever you are going.

  7. Hi Tina!
This gets a big WOW from me! It is a gorgeous card. The peonies are beautiful and the maiden hair fern too! It's all lovely. The whole card is so pretty.
We haven't had the amount of rain you have had but we have had some and the garden really was crying out for it.
Just had a baby jay and Mum in the garden and two baby robins and their Mum - I think! It's so lovely to see all the new life.

    1. Hi Myra

Thank you Myra, I think the maidenhair fern might be a regular visitor to my cards.

We have had such strong winds here today that little woodpecker was hanging on for dear life to the nut feeder, but it wasn't going to be defeated it was there for a good 10 mins until a massive rook swooped in and sent it flying off. I think this is my favourite time of year when the mums feel that safe to bring their babies to feed in front of us. Aren't we so lucky!

      See you soon Myra

  10. Hi Tina, I am new to your blog and just love this card. I noticed how the two pieces of embossed card match perfectly with the design flowing from one to the other. Can you tell me how you were able to do this so expertly with the matting and layering in between the two embossed pieces. Can't seem to figure out how you did this. Thanks so much for sharing such a beautiful card.

    1. Hi Cathie

How lovely to have another new lady come visit my blog, you are so welcome and like Kimaccie I hope you visit me again, and thank you for your lovely comment.

Regarding the embossing. What I normally do is, cut my 1st lot of matt and layer then the second layer is normally 1cm difference.I then choose where on the bossing folder I like the pattern and just make a pencil mark and emboss, for the second layer I measure 1cm down from the pencil mark and emboss. This should make your two layers match perfectly. Hope this helps, and makes sense.

  11. Hi Tina

Absolute stunner. I love the mask you used, one for the need list! Stamp chopping is something I do too. Definitely one cut only, learnt my lesson early on! Adore the sentiment recessed and sparkling under the dies.

I finally got my SB create a rose die and ringlets striplet but playing with them down the priority list until next week at the earliest. Recently had a charity that does custom adaptations make a system to allow me to control the pedal of my sewing machine with my forearm- which leaves both hands to manipulate the fabric. Device at beta stage but due to my body rebelling after a week of visitors I haven't been able to test it properly (sew an item or simple garment start to finish, Something that's not just straight lines like the recently completed dog bed cover). Obviously that is first in line! Hopefully Wednesday is the day, even if it's for a little while.

It's been very windy here too. When it rained Monday the rain was hammering on the windows so hard it was drowning out the tv. Billy seriously dislikes rain and wind so he's been happy enough asleep on his bed most of the last few days.

Hopefully the wind and rain won't be around long for all of us!

    Hugs,

    T x

    1. Hi T

Thank you so much for your lovely comment.

I'm sorry you to hear you are in a lot of pain. That sounds like one hell of a good device, how clever is that. I hope you get to do some sewing, there's nothing worse than wanting to do something and our bossy bodies say's NO!.

Like you say all this rain is good for the garden and the veggies, but that wind has been pretty scarey. Poor billy, and lucky Billy is having a posh new bed cover. Take care T. Talk soon

Big Hugs to you & Billy

The whole card is stunning. Amazing how the tiny lines of black and silver are so necessary, and make all the difference.

Thank you Janice, I really do love making the flowers, but worried when I saw Sue's peony flower on Sunday, but it was too late I had already made them and didn't want to throw them away. I must admit I do like using black and silver for my matting. Thank you again.
