"Golden Oldie's"

Hi My Blog Friends.

I'll start this message with my appointment to have an op on Thursday 23rd. We arrived for the appointment at 12.15 about 1 o'clock I was taken to my ward all the usual ob's done, and I found out I was 2nd on the list for my surgeon. The morning op's were running into the afternoon session and we were told there will be a little delay as the op staff needed a break. The lady 1st on the list next to me went down for her op about 2.30pm. All the other ladies in my ward were going down for their op's, under different surgeons and had been taken to recovery, brought back up to the ward and in time were sat up eating toast and having a cup of tea. I never knew toast smelt so good until you know you can't have any. Even the men that were in the side ward had gone down and come back and some were actually going home. Each nurse that was on my ward had gone for their lunch came back and said " you still here ". They even had their afternoon break and couldn't believe I was still here. Anyway at 4.15pm my nurse came over and said would you like to get yourself ready. I sat there with my beautiful backless gown on, modestly covered with my dressing gown. At about 5pm I said to Paul it'll be getting dark soon, at this rate I won't get out of recovery until it's dark and won't get get home till early evening . At 5.15pm The head nurse came over and said I'm so sorry but we are going to have to cancel your op today as the lady next door had a complication and was still in theatre, She then asked can you come back on Monday 27th at 12.30pm and they have promised I will be 1st on the list. I just really hope that the lady that was in the bed next to me is OK.

So Monday is another anxious day, really not looking forward to it again, as I got myself into quite a panic on Thursday. So fingers crossed it will go ahead on Monday.

There won't be a new card next week . I don't think I'll feel up to it after my op, and the 2nd & 3rd March is the 1st anniversary of when our stunningly beautiful Granddaughter passed on the 2nd March and when she was born on the 3rd. We only have Mother's Day to get through and then we have done all the most painful of 1st anniversaries. I really hope life gets a little easier as I don't think I could do another year like this last one. It's been unbelievably painful & difficult.

I've said this on many occasions, how wonderful your support has been throughout this awful year for our family. I'm really not very good with words, and Thank You just doesn't seem to do be enough to say to you all. I wish I could come and meet you all and give you all a personal heartfelt hug. XX.
Bless you all!

I've been making something for Claire & Toby for Evelyn's room and I will share this with you at some time after next weekend if you would like to see it.

On a much lighter note, I went right back to when I first started making cards and things back in 2013/2014 and chose a few different makes for you to look over again, some I don't know if I ever put them on my blog. It was all so new then and I really didn't know what I was doing not being computer savvy back then, and not much better now!.

Here Goes!

Christmas Crackers I made and the Christmas cards I sent below sent in 2013.

Card I made for Claire's future mum in-law back in 2014.

One of the 1st double layered stamping cards I made in 2014.

Finally, one of the first roses I made in 2014, even before MIL's card above.

I hope you enjoyed looking back over my very early makes.

I will be back with new cards soon.

Take care everyone, sending love & hugs and of course a big big Thank You too you all XX.

  2. Morning Tina, I can imagine what you went through all that tension before the op only to find that it was cancelled due to an emergency at the last minute, I know it doesn't help you but these things do happen. Not long to wait and it will be all over, we are all behind you and I will be holding your hand even though you can't see it, all the way through.

It is going to be tough for the next few weeks for you all, when the anniversaries come round it is so devastating, you will all get upset and that is natural, but remember that Evelyn is up there looking down on you all and she is happy, she is sending hugs down to you all. My granddaughter would have been 9 this year and it still hurts like mad, but I do get comfort in knowing that she is happy and looking down on us all.

Now to these stunning creations, you are truly amazing with these, you have magic fingers, if you will allow, I would love to try and have a go at some of them, wouldn't be anywhere near as good as yours but it is so nice to try.

Anyway hugs my friend and will be thinking of you on Monday

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  3. Oh Tina what a tough time you are having, it is so stressful waiting for the operation and then having to go through all that again, when its cancelled but I am sure you will feel so much better when it is over and done with.
The next couple of weeks will be very difficult for you all, but I am know that the love you have for one another will help you all get through this difficult time and Evie will always have such a special place in your hearts.

It was so nice Tina to see some of your earlier cards, they are beautiful and such an inspiration to me.
You really do have a gift. I look forward to seeing many more of your creations when you feel up to it.

Finally good luck on Monday and know that all your followers will be thinking of you and wishing you well.
    Hugs Wendyx

  4. Wonderful cards from your beginning. Just proves you were meant to do this craft. So sorry for your delay for your surgery. Waiting for your surgery, waiting at the hospital and having to go back home only to return another day is so nerve-racking. I pray God gives you a calm to get you through this delay and for you to have a successful surgery. My prayers also go your way and for your family, as you go through the 1st anniversaries of such life changing events and the loss of your sweet grand-daughter Evelyn. I hope and pray you all have a better year.

  5. Hello Tina,
I honestly couldn't believe what I was reading at first! What a day you had! I'm so sorry about that! I will be thinking of you tomorrow and all this week. You have some tough days ahead but I'm praying too that all goes well tomorrow and that you get home nice and early! After the toast!! You know I'm not trying to make light of what you are facing - I would never do that! Just think of the end and the toast!
It was lovely to see your crackers and cards! I bought a Die for crackers and I haven't used it yet!! It seemed like a good idea at the time! You have inspired my to get " cracking" .
Thank you for showing us your lovely cards as well! If that was one of your first roses I think you had an unfair advantage from day one! It's beautiful! Like an old English Rose .
I'd better go now as I've things I need to get done!
Sending lots of love , Myra xx

  7. Hello Tina,
I know exactly how you felt when the nurse came to you. I'd gone in the night before and was NBM after midnight, after waiting all day to go to theatre at 5.30 I was told to get dressed as I was going home and burst into tears, which was embarrassing for a woman my age! The surgeon came before I went home and promised me I would be first on his list a week later - and I was.
You'll be all done and dusted by now and that will be behind you so I wish you a speedy recovery.
Your cards and crackers are stunning, you certainly have a fantastic talent.
I'll be thinking of you this week, take heart and know that we are all thinking of your family.
    love Maureen xxx

  14. Hi Tina
Have just looked in after a long absence as remembered it was a year ago since you lost little Evie. Sending hugs to you all, a difficult time.
SO sorry about your hospital cancellation but guess you are on the road to recovery now, but can imagine it was an anxious wait.
Loved seeing your early cards, can't believe you made such beauties at the beginning of your craft journey. Particularly like the Christmas card with poinsettias, but cannot work out how you elevated the central square section with out showing the 'workings'! Also very much admiring of your card for Claire - a real beauty.
    Thinking of you all.

  17. Hi Tina! Sorry I deleted the comment but realised that I shouldn't have included my email address! I was looking at your blog and was wondering which frame you had used for the poinsettia Christmas card. Is there any way you can let me know? Thankyou for all your inspiration. Sue x
