Believe

Good Tuesday morning everyone

Was that our Indian Summer that we have been experiencing, didn't last long did it!

Firstly I have to say to each and everyone of you that left me a message, I am so sorry I didn't reply back to you this week, but it has been absolutely full on, and a very tiring week with both the moves of my Son And my sister. Just have to say TOB, I wish it was gin in my water bottle, but sadly no it was just water, but I am trying much harder now to get on to the harder stuff.  ( Not that I am feeling that much is help needed there.)

Well my sister is now tucked up in our caravan, and it looks like she has dug herself in for the foreseeable future. Claire popped over yesterday, and she is blooming nicely and she is so happy. We were talking about the due date for Claire's baby which is March 1st, and my sister spoke up and said OH I should still be here by then. Paul & I looked at each other and we nearly fell off our chair's. I said to her, "Are you really going to be here that long" and she laughed and said to Claire, your mum's funny but I never know if she is serious. ( I really was serious though! ). Oh heck!

My son is also back home now, and I'm begging him to stay but, It looks like he will be moving out again and into his own property on the 9th or there about. When he came home last Wednesday he came  with so much washing and said " Mum can I borrow the washing machine ", and I said you're back home now just use everything like you did before. So he did, he put one load of washing on went into the lounge put the telly on and plonked his backside in the armchair, likewise all over the weekend too, either watching the American football or on the PS. It's like he never left. I'm not complaining I love having him back if only for a short time. The one thing that is driving me crackers is there are 3 homes in one and there is not one room that is not affected, and we have gained yet another Cockatiel called Potter, it's quite noisy in the mornings now with our Eric & Ernie ( Cockatiels ) and Potter. It's quite a musical wake up call albeit a bit too early. Hey Ho!

Now about the card, I hope you like it, and I have made a tutorial for the flowers I hope you can follow it, don't forget the scrunch at the end, you'll see what I mean.

Flower Tutorial

These are the  tools to make a rose

Once you have cut the flowers out, it's your choice of colouring , I just dabbed the middle of the flowers with the sponge and then just used the paint brush to lightly paint some veins on the petals.

Start forming your flowers with the ball tool. The 2 smaller petals you  make into a bud for the middle of the rose. Don't worry that the flower looks wrinkly.

Start to build up each layer of petals

Offset each petal for a more realistic look

Finally you end up with an open rose, which in it's self is pretty.

If you want a more realistic rose, use your tweezers to shape the petals, the wrinkles tend to disappear at this stage. When you have folded over your petals to how you like it. Place it in your palm and give it a Scrunch. Just make sure your glue is thoroughly dry before you do this but it just softens the rose and makes it more compact.

That's it. I hope this was helpful, if not leave me questions on my blog and I will get back to you. If you trust me to do another flower tutorial let me know. Don't forget to scrunch!

  1. Hi Tina. Sorry i haven't been around. Went on a fantastic holiday but slipped and hurt my back which i already have degenrative discs and i have a spinal implant so it has taken me awhile to sort myself out lol. You seem to be having a busy time yourself with all the moving of your family but hopefully it will start to settle down soon. Your cards have been stunning and the same for todays creation. Your flowers are beautiful and thank you for your tutorial on making them as this will be a great help to me and many other crafters as i can never get mine to sit right and yours always seem so real. This card would make anyone very happy to recieve it. Take care Tina.
    Best Wishes.

    1. Hi Denise

What an awful thing to happen on your holiday and too add more pain to what you have to cope with on a daily basis, poor you Denise.

I can't believe we haven't 5 minutes to ourselves. Things are starting to settle down, but it's just every room in the house has boxes in and I'm beginning to feel claustrophobic. Glad you liked my card this week and it looks like the tutorial has gone down well, glad you liked that too. Thank you Denise for such a lovely comment. You take care & look after yourself.

Thank you for your lovely comment and glad you like this weeks card and tutorial.regarding the stamens, I have my 3d glue in a syringe, so I carefully stick the syringe into the bud left some glue and I use some wired stamens I purchased from Joanna Sheen and just cut them to size and the 3d glue is thick enough to help them stand up. Hope this helps.

Regarding Claire, I hope the next 6 months do fly by, I can't wait.

Craig is moving the next county across into Dorset. He's buying a 2 bedroom apartment 8 minutes from Bournemouth beach near a place called the Chimes, it's about an hour away. Back in the summer when he lived in his previous place we walked to the beach got a bottle of wine and Harry Ramsden fish & chips and sat on the beach to watch the sun go down. Lots of evening like that to come in the future. I will miss having him here though. Hey Ho!

  14. Hiya lovely. I'm shattered reading all about the moves !! I bet you're so glad you have your craft room for a little bit of you time. Its lovely to have our 'babies ' back home, but how they remind you of their laziness and untidyness !! It drove me dolally when our daughter stayed with us when she was studying health visiting at the uni near where we live. We were SO pleased when she qualified (but yes we also missed her when she moved back to her own little pad)
Oh Tina this gorgeous card screams girly and delicate and lush. CE are so lucky to have you on board.
Which folder did you use for the background hon ? It's beautiful. Can you tell me how you made such a realistic bud in the centre, did you spritz the card first to make it plyable ?
6 months - I thought Claire was a little more than 3 months have you got the knitting pattern and wool yet ?
Every time our phone goes I jumping lol : 0

I'm late today, late last night I had an order for a 25th anniversary card but need it for Saturday so I've been working on it all day and waiting for her to get back to me to say it was okay so I can stick it all down ready to post tomorrow ! Talk about not pressure lol.
Anyway Tina I hope you've managed to sink a bottle of wine or two to help you unwind !!!

I'd also love to see more flower tutorials whatever flower dies you have then we'd love to see how the Queen of flowers makes them look so real.
    Will love and leave you.

You are a 100% right about my workroom being my sanctuary, thank god I didn't take up body building I'd be really knacked now, just gentle crafting for me! Glad you like the card Steph and the tutorial, will definitely do more of them. Did I leave the embossing folder off my list, what a plonker, hang on I'll have a look then add it to my product list. At this rate you'll be sacking me.

Back again, It's Sue Wilson's Rambling Rose. No I don't spritz mine I just break down the fibres with the ball tool, and I find the card easy to roll, but if spritzing it makes it easier then go for it.

Steph, Claire is more than 3 months, I'm just brain tired, I think she said yesterday in 10 day we will know what our special delivery is. So she is nearly half way. Yippee!! How is Lou, your nerve's much be shattered.

I've sunk a few bottles of wine and sometimes something stronger!

Hope your lady likes her card, what a service you offer.

  16. Hi Tina

Wow, I felt tired just reading about your houseguests moving in! I think we all understand you've been so busy you can't reply. Nice to have people around but I imagine you have a "do not disturb, crafting in progress" sign on your craft room/ craft area door! The next county will seem like miles away when Craig goes but hey, free beach holidays! ;-) Glad to hear of Claire's progress, time does fly at the best of times, having experienced "getting ready for baby" with friends and family it always seems like a rush to get things in place in time!

My parents have a couple of rescued birds. One's a big white parrot and the other is a little green one- don't ask me what they are but they don't half make a racket!

Your tutorial was genuinely one of the best I have seen, if you have any more I'd love to see them! I've been struggling with the Spellbinders make a flower rose, think I'm using either too heavy or too light card/ paper. Thinking of trying something around a 160gsm next. Got Spellbinders tattered rose too, they've always been hit and miss. Think I'm too impatient and don't let the glue dry!

Things are a bit better this week, I will still be in touch but don't feel you have to hurry a reply as you got rather a house full! Mines a hotmail too, has the number 697 in it in case it ends up in your junk folder.

Well, I must get on. Got a list as long as my arm of things I need to order online before I get to Sue's blog.

Take care, make sure you get those guests on a rota to help you out!

I've got a couple of spellbinder flower dies, I'll have a look and maybe do a tutorial on them. Thank you, that was a lovely comment about my tutorial too. I made my flowers from the foundations card, I think it is 220 gsm, but I'll check

I do have a sign on my craft room door, but it say's, Home is where the Art is, corny or what!.

When Claire came over at the weekend she had found some furniture that she liked, so last night we ordered it for the nursery, It's items that will grow with the baby, and she was so excited.

I have to admit the birds altogether are noisy little beggars but at the moment are entertaining, watch this space!

I hope you order lots of goodies T. I did go into junk mail and I can't reply to you as it comes up as noreply. Am I being thick here?

Look forward to hearing from you T

  28. Hi Tina
Love the card and the dies you've used. Love the Gemini die and the others you've used, I hope your sister didn't mean it when she said she'd still be around in March. Seems like she's there for the long hall.

    1. Hi Pat

Thank you. I hope my sister didn't mean it either. Although she is in the caravan, she showers in the house. It's the privacy I miss the most. Hey Ho!

  31. Thank you very, very, much. Now I think I can make beautiful roses just like yours...
Don't you use another rose die from Spellbinders?
    Could you demo that also?
