HELLO to ALL

Well what a  way to spend a Sunday afternoon, in Salisbury Hospital A&E. I was sat Watching Sue's programs that I had recorded and making this card, when I look out at our drive and saw Paul coming up the drive after a walk holding his arm and covered in mud. I thought this doesn't look good and his face was creased with pain. About 6 years ago we were on holiday in Keswick, and Paul wanted to do an all day climb. so off he went I stayed back at the caravan with my dog Berkeley, ( who as a lot of you know is no longer with us ) I was enjoying  making some cards. About 7.30pm Paul rang and said, Don't worry but I've had an accident, He had fallen and dislocated his shoulder. He managed  the rest of the climb down. and called for help. He rang me while being blue lighted to Carlisle Hospital as his arm was hanging and he had no feeling all down his left arm right to the tips of his fingers. We cut the holiday short and Luckily I had learned how to tow the caravan . He had to go to London to have a major op and it took nearly a year for him to use his arm fully and still has no feeling in the tip of his forefinger and thumb.

Today I put Paul in the car and took him to A&E, yes it was confirmed he had dislocated the same shoulder but luckily didn't do any more damage, by god is he going to milk it, again!!

Anyway just poured him a strong whiskey, put the tv on and he looks quite comfortable.

I really enjoyed making the flowers on this card and when you glued them together you could just watch them change shapes, and they might appear again on another card, well not these ones I'll make fresh ones.

  1. Hello Tina,
I'm sorry to read about Paul and hope he (and you) soon recover. He must have thought it was time for a drama again!
Now your card is so beautiful and it's given me ideas for a card I have to make for an 85 year old lady who adores Asters, so I'm going to do something similar, if that's ok. I won't make an exact copy, as I don't think that's fair, anyway, apart from the Delicate Asters, I don't have anything else listed lol !!!!
Hope you get a good night's sleep, and that Paul doesn't keep you awake. I always use a wooden mallet on George ! xxx

  2. Hi Maureen

Yet another top tip with the mallet, keep them coming. I think you might have to become my weekly top tipper Thank you for that lovely comment, and I really don't mind if you copy it exactly. I think it is very flattering that you would like to any thing like it. I hope your lady likes it. I would love to see the finished card.

    big hugs

  3. Oh, I don't know whether to say poor Paul,or poor you! The latter probably. Men are so wussy when they are ill. But I hope he feels better soon.
I Love this card. The asters are so delicate. I often make them from tissue paper, but never tried velum. Have you shaped each petal? If so it must take ages, but very effective.
    Cheers

  4. Hi Janice

I just went into the lounge, and he had his head in his hand and when I asked he said it was hurting. I said why don't I get you some pain killers and you go to bed in the spare room, because I have to admit I'm a bit of a tosser at night , but he said no. So he has to take his chances that I don't hit his arm tonight. Poor Paul!!

Thank you for your lovely comment tonight, and yes I did shape them all, but it doesn't take that long and I found it very therapeutic. Am I really quite sad or what!!

    Big hugs

    1. Hi Jane

Thank you for your lovely words about Paul and my card. Paul is not too bad today, although last evening he was feeling very sorry for himself so tried his hardest to finish off the Christmas sweets so was up most of the night feeling queasy. Not much sleep was had by both of us, plus he couldn't get comfortable. Hey Ho it can only get better.

      Hugs

  9. Good morning Tina, well are you going to re-name your house emergency ward 2 and a half? Poor Paul first his eye now the shoulder again, whatever next? No don't answer that! Don't forget you could give him one of your rice bags either hot or out of the freezer to soothe the pain. Thank goodness he was not up in the Lakes as the hospital is in a dreadful state you wouldn't want him going there believe me 20 plus wards I hear have been closed due to the winter vomiting virus! For your sanity and his well being I do hope he makes a very quick recovery.
Your card is absolutely divine so very delicate looking and of course very, very, beautiful, I hope you don't mind if I steal some of your ideas as I have a 65th Wedding Anniversary card to make for a special friends parents as well as their celebration cake, the cake is easy I made it last night but I was scratching my head as to their card, so if you don't mind my problem is solved. Those asters look so wonderful and life like and as always your butterfly looks ready for flight.
Hang on in there both of you when all else fails have a laugh it is the best medicine!
    With love and gentle hugs

    1. Hi Margaret

Thank goodness, we weren't in Cumbria, I can handle most things, but really can't do the sicky thing. I did do the heat bag last night for him. He mentions you every time we have to use them, and that's quite a lot lately.

Claire had to go back to the doctors Friday as she was in a lot of pain again. They are now referring her to have the exploratory op. I've told her it's now time to go private, and don't argue.

Regarding the 65th Anniversary, I feel flattered that you want to use it. Thank you. When my family stop using the NHS hospitals I think I'll put on one hell of a happy party, everyone welcome!!

      Big hugs

    2. Well if you feel like taking flight as Norah has suggested, Cumbria is a lot nearer than Scotland so come up to me, the spare bedroom is next to my craft room. However a party sounds good to me, I'll make the cake!!!!
Seriously Tina hang on in there as only you can and I do so hope that Claire finds some answers really soon, this has gone on for far too long bless her.

Thank you for the lovely things you said about the flowers, I did really did enjoy making them. There are few more Spellbinders flower dies I need to get out and play with again.

We both had a restless night, more so because to console himself he thought he could trawl through the Christmas chocolate and was up walking the floor and drinking Andrews. What a Plonker. although at 3am in the morning it was a bit stronger.

  11. Good morning Tina,
This is STUNNING Tina, so beautiful the asters look done in the pink vellum and the beautiful butterflies. I must admit to loving Tina style cards as the flowers always look amazing and so true and accurate to life, and this card is no different from the other Tina style cards that you have made.
Oh poor Paul, what on earth was the silly man making friends with the ground for again, it doesn't play nicely whatsoever honest i can vouch for that over the years. Seriously though i am glad that Paul hasn't damaged beyond repair once more and after a few weeks getting it back on the mend again hopefully he should be back to as normal as he gets.(hope he doesn't think i'm being too cheeky but hopefully you know what i mean) After the fortnight i think your sanity will have snapped and having read above he is lucky that it is a home job other wise he might have more on his plate than is good for anyone to deal with if he went into hospital.
Maureen, i have knitting needles under my pillow for when his nibs starts (really useful when they are snoring) ;)
Take care lovely lady and bring more back soon. I now have a spare room if needed by you for a rest and with quite a few miles between houses you would get peace and quiet,
    Love and crafty hugs

He's not misbehaving too much, yet, but now thanks to you and Maureen I now have knitting needles to add to the mallet. I'm getting quite an arsenal.

I could have used these tips yesterday on the way back from hospital as he said with a smile on his face, can you give me a shower, I said NO I've just become a vegetarian!!
Thank you for your lovely words.

  12. Hi Tina

What a simply stunning card. The Delicate Asters die doesn't look like much on it's own but wow! What stunning flowers. Think I need to pick this die up. I'm a bit like Lynda, I've kind of forgot about my spellbinders of late- there's still a couple of them I've been meaning to get for a while now but I keep buying Sues dies instead. This card is so pretty I'm saving the email so to use as inspiration later on- and so I know what to aim for when I have the Aster die.

Poor Paul, that's a painful Injury. He's luckg to avoid major tissue damage I hope he recovers soon (for your sake too lol)

What a lovely thing to say about the email, it's so flattering. Many more lovely comments and I'll find it hard to get my head in my workroom.

When I saw Paul coming up the driveway holding his arm I panicked. The first thing I asked him was could he move his Fingers. Thank God he could so I knew it wasn't as serious as last time. Phew!!

  13. OMG!! Tina,,
WOW! your card is AMAZING love everything about it. The flowers are fantastic, the colours and design are wonderful, a real Tina card.
Reading your Blod about Paul brought a horrible feeling and memories. A few years ago John fell though"a roof and broke his back. A lot of nursing, great determination John got back in his feet. He went off on his own one day, his back gave way and he fell. He had put out his right arm to safe himself. When he got home holding his right arm and saying "please don't shout at me but I have hurt my arm" One look at it and it was a visit to A&E, kept in and operated on right away to replace his smashed elbow with a Titanium one. It healed well but left him with no feeling in his little finger and the one next to it. That's why we don't have a full set of crystal glasses and so many half sets of cups.
I do hope Paul is feeling a bit more comfortable. You both have my full sympathy. Sending (((((hugs))))) for both of you.
Hope Claire gets some results this time. All this has gone on far too long.
Had to laugh at your "bedtime antics" ......!!!
    Please stay safe

Yes Sorry about my pho pars, Paul is always saying, think about what you are going to say or they come out as Tina spoonerisms

These men go out thinking they are superman but it always comes back to their money pennies to look after them. You must have been so stricken to hear that John had broken his back, the outcome could have taken so many avenues. Thank God it turned out in Johns favor. Just like Paul they have to out and do it again. What are they like!

      Big hugs

Thank you for saying what you have about my card, it does mean so much.

Ooh dear! You have been having a time of it! Men eh?!
Seriously though I'm sorry your husband is in pain for your sake as much as his! Men and pain don't go together.
Back to the card - before I get in serious bother!
It is lovely and I love your flowers.
Lovely to see Sue's new dies too. All in all a lovely card.
Thank you for sharing it and I do hope you both have a good nights sleep tonight. My Mum had this saying. - you'll be a lot better in the morning! It applied to colds, sniffles, broken bones and everything pretty much!
    Lots of love, Myra xx
