Last of February Stamps for the girls

Good morning and a big warm welcome to every one who visits my blog land today, you are so welcome and hope that you will stay long enough to leave a comment.

Today is my last stamp of February, with the 50/6'0s stamps. Where the hell has this month gone.

I heard today that people were having snow. don't you think we have had enough of winter and just want spring to be just around the corner. Soon I hope.

This is my last DT card for February. This year is galloping by, if anyone knows how to slow life down please leave the formula at the end of this blog.

This is my last Feb card

A close up of the grouting

Products used:-

8X8 Black card
Creative Expressions-  Foundations Aqua card
Creative Expressions- Foundations vintage gold card
Creative Expressions- foundations Black card
Sue Wilson Noble dies- Classic adorned squares
Sue Wilson frames & Tags- Dainty Oval Frame
Creative Expressions- Best Friend stamp
Sue Wilson finishing Touches- Classic Rose
Sue Wilson- Faux Quilled leaves
Butterflies from my butterfly stash
Creative Expressions- Sparkle texture paste- Aurora sparkle

Start with an 8x8 card, matt and layer with Gold and aqua card. I then cut strips of black and gold and made a stripe them with the aqua card I then embossed the Sue Wilson art Deco EF and embossed apiece of card, and then did the new technique sue called grouting the card, but did it on the deboss side not the emboss side. I wish I had made a step by step picture for you, but all you do is put a lot of the paste over your card so that all the grooves are covered. When you are pleased it is all covered use the palette knife and scrape the excess off. Don't go to heavy or you will pull the paste out of the grooves. Set aside to dry for a good 3/4 hour, or best overnight. I Then cut a square from the noble squares, and cut 4 of the dainty ovals and cut the longer length off and attached it on all 4 sides of the square. I then cut out the 2 patterned dies from the nobble squares and the oblong from the dainty oval frames to make the focal point. I made some roses from the finishing touches classic rose dies and leaves from the faux leaf die. I found some butterflies from my stash and high lighted them with the aurora paste.

Grouting the card is a  really fun technique , it's a bit mucky but in real life it looks
fab. I don't know if the photo shows it up too well. Yet another technique Sue has taught us. For even more ideas for cards and techniques visit sue Wilson's blog . just go to, http://particraft.blogspot.co.uk/ . Such a fantastic friendly blog and a beautiful inspirational card everyday.

I hope you like my card today. Have a go at the grouting technique, you really will have fun doing it. Just one tip, don't  scrape over and over the card for too long taking off the excess as it tends to make the card go a bit soft and lose the definition of the embossing. So spread the paste all over and scrape off in a few strokes. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Take care all, Talk soon

    1. Thank you Jane, I know what you mean about getting up earlier. This morning Paul started snoring and it woke me, that started my allergy off so I was up at 4.30am. I did go back to bed about 6.15am but that was after allmy sneezing has stopped so that I don't wake Paul up.

  2. Wow oh wow a true wonder of Tina card and what a fabulous card it is, so very beautiful indeed, quite simply love it!
Yes we have lots more snow on the fells and Kirkstone Pass is blocked, so please keep Paul down there with you for goodness sake don't let him sneak up here it is treacherous on the fells. Someone fell 200ft down Helvellyn at the weekend, guess what, he walked the rest of the way down with minor injuries to meet the mountain rescue! He will never be as lucky again!
On a brighter note Spring is on the way I have daffodils out in the garden, lets just hope summer is following, fingers crossed.
    Take care

    1. Hi Margaret

Thank you lovely lady, you say such beautiful things about my cards. I passed your message onto Paul about the fells.

Message from Paul, He loves Kirkstone pass and would love a photo from the top looking down on all that snow. Well I've told him what I think of this request, so feel free to tell him your's.

    2. Please tell your darling husband what he would like and what he gets are two different things I am afraid, Egerton breakdown wagons have been up on Kirkstone several times to retrieve crashed cars, and I love our car. Now before he says it, I shall say it, no, me walking up there with my crutches is totally out of the question!!!

    3. Thanks Margaret, you made me laugh, what these men expect us to do. It sounds really bad up there. Regarding crutches is that what you would be on walking up the fells or have I missed something. Are you Ok?

    4. Good pleased you had a little chuckle! Yes it is my crutches or my chair that get me around, that is why I love my car!

    6. Oh Tina please, please there is nothing to feel the slightest bit guilty about and there is most definitely nothing to forgive.
I have always taken the attitude laugh and the world laughs with you, but cry and you cry alone. If anyone hints at pity to me I just say, look I am still breathing, time to worry is when I stop! After my accident I just said well it's happened now lets get on with the rest of our lives, that chapter is closed lets see what the next one has in store for us.
So please don't you feel bad at all.

  3. Hi Tina,
What a beautiful card, but then again every card you post is gorgeous. I must give the grouting technique a go, as I tiled the bathroom and kitchen some years ago. Oh, not that type of grouting!!!!
I enjoy using stencils with paste so will definitely have a go with this later today. I quite fancy using it with the Hearts M-Bossabilities folder as I have some Anniversary cards to make, and I think that as a background will be stunning - but there again, what do I know?
It's freezing cold, windy and we are due some rain and snow here in Newcastle - Nooooooooo.
As Cher said "If I could turn back time". I don't know the answer, all I know is the older I get, the faster time goes. Every year I say that I'm not going to take the Christmas decorations down, as I no longer seem to get them down when it's time to put them up again!!

    1. Hi Maureen

Thank you so much for your comment. Really have a go at the grouting technique, it's really good messy fun. I did the tiling in our new kitchen and when it came to doing the grouting I just thought I was putting on my makeup. My kitchen looks a lot better than my make up, and maybe I need to a thicker layer to fill my cracks.

I think the Christmas decoration debate is scarey. Last year was so full of really sad things and also really beautiful things happening for us, and when we had picked ourselves, and up dusted ourselves down it was Christmas. I said to Paul it only feels like I took them down a few months ago. Scarey, have I already said that.

  5. OH....WOW....You just keep surpassing yourself. This is stunning. That paper grouting creates a fabulous background, and I love the stripes behind it all. There is always so much detail in your cards it takes a while to study them. Certainly not a card you take from the envelope and just put on the shelf.
As for time, when I was much younger, I heard a ststement which at the time didn't make any sense...it does now though. The first 21 years is the longest half of your life.

    1. Thank you Janice, what a lovely thing to say. I really do like to make a card that you have to look at in detail. If you did that I have then I am really chuffed. Thank you.

I had to read your statement a few times, but my goodness isn't that so true. I lost my mum 7 weeks before I married Paul I was then 22, It seemed so long to get to that stage in my life. I only hope I passed on the long personal memories of the first 21yrs of their life on to my Claire & Craig. X

  6. Hi Tina

Beautiful card, the background is stunning, I watched Sue do this technique at the weekend and I now need to order some texture paste! Back to your card though- I like how the sentiment is the focal piece, the roses look lovely and suit the rest of the card beautifully.

I don't know how you stop time flying, only a lottery win of millions to mean you don't have to work and employing staff to cook, clean, do laundry and be at the beck and call of the rest of the family I'd guess!

    Looking forward to March's cards

    1. Hi T

Thank you, You are really going to enjoy that technique. I'm a bit like Sue, I don't like mucky crafting, but I'd get mucky everyday doing this.

I am with you on winning the lottery. Before crafting I was in the catering trade. I had my own business and it is one the hardest jobs to take on. I said to Paul I wanted to open a cattery and misheard, and I ended up in catering. I now hate cooking and sooo wish to win the lottery, and a chef would be my first person to take on. OH how lovely to dream!!

  7. Wow! Oh! Wow! Tina, love love, love everything you have done on this STUNNING card.
I have some texture paste, I don't think I have had the lid off the tub yet.
I would probably "grout" tiles quicker ....... !!!!!
We have very thick snow on the hills we see out the kitchen. The ones out the front have less, luckily none down in the valley where we are.
This year is going past so quickly it's making me dizzy ..... mind you I am dizzy anyway!!!

It must look so beautiful with the snow on the hills, but for us soft southerners we don't have to be so inconvenienced. I used to love the snow when the kids were younger and lived at home, but now they drive and have their own homes, I hope we don't have anymore this year.

  9. Hi Tina,
What a truly lovely card! I really want to try the new grouting technique. I have used texture paste with masks but this looks so impressive.
Love your beautiful roses! My husband said "stop the world I want to get off" to a Romanian friend! Well she had never heard that before and asked him to explain it! Now that was funny!
I know exactly what you mean.
Thanks again for sharing a lovely card.

Thank you. You really should have a go at the grouting you'll love it.

I would love to have been a fly on the wall when your hubby had to tell your friend about that saying. Knowing my luck you would have got the fly swat out and squashed me. That'll teach me to earwig.

  10. Good afternoon Tina,
It has taken my brain until today to realise why you put the striped background that originally i thought was an all white card with glitter paste on it, doh!!!!! Sorry i think i must have got Homer Simpsons brain yesterday because otherwise i would have seen that the striped background was a part of the card and not just to show it off against. And i have also realised why because you have used the art deco type frame so have put art deco background in, as i say sorry the brain is functioning as well as a 2 watt light bulb at the moment. I always love your roses as you always use an abundance of foliage to show them off to their best. A beautiful card Tina and with the art deco fanfare embossing as well it all melts lovely into each other. Thank you flower for showing another one of a Tina style card as these are my favourites out of the ones that you do, sorry not to suppose to have favourites but your Tina cards are stunning,
    Love and crafty hugs flower

  12. Hi Tina,
I kept coming across your name on Sue's blog but didn't know you have one yourself until I visited the CE website/gallery and found out that you, too, make beautiful cards and have a blog. So here I am and shall be popping in regularly (after having looked at your older posts once I get straight and home improvements like fitting wardrobes etc have finished and I'm back to normal. (hopefully I'll have that much more room to store all the lovely fabrics I bought years ago before the craft bug hit me - I'm certainly not throwing those beautiful fabrics out but hope I'll live long enough to sew beautiful clothes from them, for me). Like you, it's Sue Wilson who got me interested - by chance I happened to come across the C&C channel and saw her demoing , and the rest is history.
And now I've accumulated so much crafting stuff that I had to have a proper storage unit built (designed to meet my needs) in my craft room (used to be dining room!), so now there's only the boxes and boxes of cardstock to be sored somewhere.............

Anyway, enough of the waffle - your card is beautiful - I haven't tried the grouting technique as yet but it's definitely ON THE LIST OF THINGS TO PLAY WITH. I love the art deco embossing folder, as I do the bevelled glass striplet - it's got the same feel to it (never know whether it's art deco or art nouveau)....
Must dash into town, but nice to "meet" you.
    Hugs, Rose

how lovely to see another familiar name coming to visit my blog and say such lovely things about my cards. I look forward to seeing you again here. It sounds like you have your hands full with your home improvements. Regarding your fabrics, I wish I could take a piece of material and turn it into something to wear, but I wouldn't have a clue where to start. It was Nice to meet you too, and I don't call what you do or all the work you have to do as waffle. It's lovely to hear someone Else's love of crafting. Look forward to seeing you again Rose.

  13. Hi Tina, sorry to be a stranger and I cant apologise enough, no excuse apart from being a little tired, lazy, and falling asleep almost after Ive swollowed my last mouthful of dinner in the evening ! I feel Im catching up now though, and remind myself to visit those blogs thst I enjoy the most, I only follow about 6 so its not like a full time job !! So Im really sorry. Where do our days go though ? I could do with at least another 4hrs added to my day just so I can blog on time !!
Have looked at all your cards since the last male card (Craig or Paul's) and im lost for words. Each card is full of beauty and elegance Tina. Claire's card amazes me with the build up of dies, one I cant ever remember seeing, looks like fronds of lace behind another die ? My explanation is pants Im afraid, but its lush, what dies are they ?
Will email you soon my beauty. Hope you now feel better.
    Love n hugs.
